Josh (my son from Vermont) and Chris (my daughter's friend from Pennsylvania) came by and took out a couple of our problem trees, and shared their wonderful children with us for a couple of days. Confident and nimble as gibbons in the treetops, it was a pleasure to watch these two work together, with support on the ground from my grandson Walker.

Playing around with Photoshop trying to see how I'd look with different hair colors--or if I had the courage to dye. I actually find myself tempted on several of these.
I had to use an old picture of myself. It just couldn't be done with the beard.

Sequence test for normal exposure animation (doll), long exposure animation (light blobs) and composition accuracy--not a reflex camera-- (art in square) by multiple exposures. (8mm frame enlargement) Not using Kodachrome for this roll. Should have.
Also labelled in various online pages as: Magnolia soulangiana or Saucer Magnolia.
Simulating silver print selenium toning, this image is converted by Optik Verve Labs "Virtual Photographer" freeware, from a color original,... then a few other localized photoshop enhancements.
The blossoms were held in place by a (fleamarket find) solderer's clip assembly, and lit with a simple plant growlight in a cheapo clip-on gooseneck reflector lamp, against colored background paper from the craft shelves of WMart.

The title refers to pretty popular movie toning technique when lights are orange and shadows are blue.
Originally, it's Landsat OLI scene LC81780212014360LGN00 taken on 26 December 2014 in Moscow region, in the cold sunny noon. I made a composite and adjusted saturation using RGB to IHS conversion.
You can clearly see vapor from power plants located around the city, forests and populated areas. Personally, I like this kind of imagery much more than summer shots, because much fewer details are hidden under the foliage.

Craig was so close to winning Canadian Idol but I'm happy he got second place. Pretty awesome work for a sixteen year old. He is definitely one of my favorite idol contestants from Newfoundland. He has an amazing vocal range & a voice of an angel. My favorite performances from Craig on Idol were Danny Boy, Losing Grip- Avril Lavigne, and I Surrender- Celine Dion . I can't wait to hear more from this young talent from Newfoundland.
Ok, I also loved Eva too. Wow, her voice reminds me alot of Celine Dion. Its so powerful and she can practically adjust to any style too. But, no I didn't vote for her because I really wanted Craig too win. Still, she is an amazing singer and it didn't surprise me that she won Idol.

Forest on the drive to Alsea Falls, Oregon. I took the shot through my windshield. I don't recall why I did that, probably no place to pull over. I gave this an Oil1 technique.

I made this in GIMP using three different photos. I struggled a bit with the perspective tool so it didn't turn out exactly as I had envisioned it to be. More practice. Either that or get one of the Gimp Guru's to fix it for me.. oh SHAME.
