Enfosquir una cara

I'm just an infant when it comes to photography. I mean, guys, I started photographing stuffs just 3-4 days ago. All this time that I've been a Flickr member, I just crawled Flickr streams of photographers who have got the 'real' talent.

While crawling, I came across many 'styles' being used by different photographers. Out of all the styles that I like, HDR is one of my most favorite styles. It's funny that when I had a Nikon D40, I had completely no interest in photography. Now when it's no longer with me, I've fallen in love with photography.

I use a very cheap camera to take all these pictures that I have been posting here. Once I believe that I've gained enough knowledge in photography, I'll buy myself a high-end dSLR - probably one from Nikon, Canon, Sony or Panasonic.

Since I don't have a camera that produces RAW images, I started experimenting with GIMP (my favorite image manipulation program) so that I could achieve a similar effect just by using my compact camera. The pic that you see above is my first try at giving HDR look to photographs. If you like it, please leave a comment.

If you want to know how did I achieve this effect, check out this blog post: www.avinash.ws/graphic-design/gimp/hdr-look-using-gimp.html

Way Too Many Steps were taken to have any way to recap.. I just kept playing with layers and blendings and circlings and filtering ..and finally a crop.

The key was the first step of creating a mask, using the red channel, which was then cleaned up and blurred a tad, then used as a selection tool to copy and paste the blossom alone on it's own layer.

Now.. not what I wanted it to be, but then it almost never is. ;-)

I woke up last night and heard whispering. I snuck aroud the corner and was spotted before I could snap the meeting that was clearly in session. Oh everyone started wandering away trying to look nonchalant but I know that Stez is up to something....I'll catch him yet. Oh and looks like Mr & Mrs Cheetah are in on it too and they never agree on anything!

Since Stezzie shut down his stream and such... STEZZER ....Meet My Stezzer Stand In. I am sure Pseudo Stezz has something up his sleeve, he just hasnt told me what yet.

The pattern suggested here by ale_e_ba was really challenging : www.flickr.com/photos/ale_e_ba/149233227/in/pool-composit...

Although not completly compliant here's my first attempt at it.

The original object you are looking at is a milk cup as seen from above ... plus some digital treatment...

Pimped Picture 79c Softened the light and added in fill in flash to bring up and correct the exposure also added drop shadow down the right side of the image and applied a tighter crop skin softened and cleaned up with additional sharpening work done around the eyes and mouth finally very subtle burning and dodging work down to highlight skin tone and shadow detail then converted over to black and white with added grain to replicate Ilford 500 film to see original click here. “Quero grandes histórias e estórias; quero o amor e o ódio; quero o mais, o demais ou o nada. Não me importa o que é de verdade ou o que é mentira, mas tem que me convencer, extrair o máximo do meu prazer e me fazer crêr que é para sempre quando eu digo convicto que “nada é para sempre.”

Rise up all ye metal objects!

It started out as a mission to photograph shapes and reflections until I realized, in that moment of epiphany, that this humanoid form was looming large on the computer screen.

Arms raised, shaking madly, intent on rallying the masses with his maniacal gestures. "We have served the humans in this house long enough. They push a button or pull a cord and we shine our light at their bidding. Enough I say!"

Revolutionary? Prophet? Tyrant? I pondered. Thin lines everywhere blurring the issues and causes. We need light, but the lamps need their freedom from oppression.

Yes, also made on that Brocken tour (warm winter clothing required) - no, not a drawing. Wanted to create something a little bit like a logo and played around a little with GIMP/PhotoShop.

Based on a screenshot from a videotape by a friend.

Steps:

- contour finder

- separate foreground (me) from background (some woods) by multiple selection

- some filters for the background - weak crystalize / some colour interpolation - nice, but not really required

- stronger contrast ratio for me, less contrast for the background

- took "export for web" and saw that the b/w 2 colour result was rather nice.

Et voilá. :-)

I pass these cranes everyday to and from work. They fascinate me and they dominate the skyline of Belfast and can be seen from everywhere. They are in the shipyard that built the Titanic but their scale is hard to show. I love them best coming home in the evening when they are highlighted against the grey winter sky by the low evening sun when the yellow glows and the white highlight jump at you. They never cease to amaze me and at times they make me think of some kind of extra terrestrial machine like in War of the Worlds. The cranes actually have names Samson and Goliath.

I have just had fun with these using a downloaded preset for lightroom ADB_solarize found in Adobelightroom group, thankyou, then I tweaked and tweaked until I got an image I liked. I just loved the surreal effect and thought it worked well for these images.

These are my versions of screenshots taken while listening to music on the computer and watching visualizations like those offered by itunes etc. I take screenshots and work on them with my favourite image enhancement program Ultimate FX.
