Image Manipulation:
Same photo, just blurred the background more than it was originally photographed, and put the cycler's back in.
I enjoy doing that sort of thing, and this one was kind of enjoyable.
Cycling, doing so since childhood. My first bike a Huffy, with an imitation gas tank like a motorcycle. My parents won it at a grocery store drawing! It was a bit big for me, but I grew into it. It gave me a new sense of freedom and my own personal world suddenly was larger.

My color, cobalt blue, seen as an image of metal fencing that is adjusted with contrast and manipulated with the "amazing circle" technique. For those interested, the original photo used is similar to the one uploaded a week ago of this coil of fence. There are several more of these macro shots that I am still working with now. Every so often I get an urge to just have some play time in Photoshop and tonight's experiment was fun.
A demonstration of the potter's art at a fundraiser for the Cape Cod Roller Derby held at the Church of the New Jerusalem (Swedenborgian) in Yarmouth Port. Go Salty Dolls! Yay Panda-Monium!
another 'amazing circle' transformation, inserting the circles derived from the base image back into the image, and manipulated to simulate 'blueglass' globes, in this case.
I followed the procedure, first, as outlined here: brilliantdays.com/archives/2005/10/how_to_create_a.php ,
and in the flickr Amazing Circles group: www.flickr.com/groups/amazingcircles/discuss/116859/
I Am using the basic wondrous polar coordinates transformations as beautiful in and of themselves, but also as starting points for grounding them in their origins and/or creating new relationships for them.
220/365. "Earth" rendered in Adobe After Effects and exported as a Photoshop .psd file.

Another SuckerPunch-derived image. Wanted this one dark and a bit spooky. The building in the background is a mausoleum entrance I shot a couple of years ago, so it's quite fitting in this context :)
My model Sarah-Jane is shot against a neutral grey background and composited into the scene.
All backgrounds are themselves composites of various elements to create a 'hopefully' dramatic theatrical quality.

Buffy meets SuckerPunch. Maybe just need some zombies in the background :)

Sittin' in the shade. Playing a soulful tune :)
I've modified my workflow a little for these newer images. I used to rely on the 'unsharp-mask-to-simulate-dodging-and-burning' trick - but now I tend to work on a 50% grey layer set to 'overlay' and paint black or white of varying opacity onto it to give the dodging and burning effect I'm after. For these pics, at least, it seems to do the job.
Here's the before and after comparison:

To be honest. I had no idea where this was going. Just liked the warmth of the image. The background was shot in the grounds of a stately home in Cornwall.

Had great fun with this shot which evolved from a simple gangster pic into a bizarre alternate reality 30's war image - or some video game poster!!

I created this for the Down Under Challenge. I also posted the source image of the great blue heron (see below) for the group to work their magic on.
I created this composite for the Weekly Photoshop Competition. The target image (see below) was provided to the group to manipulate by Oddsock. The dog belongs to our son.
Created for the WPC Week 169
Playing around with a photos and text on Sunday Morning, I created an important protocol. Okay, an unimportant protocol. Well, not actually a protocol. Fugetaboutit!

This shot became an interesting experiment in the art of Frequency Separation. I liked this shot of Yann playing his bass but he was frowning quite a bit at the camera. So, I opted to tackle this one like full-on beauty retouching to see how much I could eradicate any unwanted lines and furrows.
I then composited the shot in the usual way, using the rendered bar scene I used from an earlier shot.
Strobist:
x1 Einstein640 boomed high just off centre right for main fill.
x1 AlienBees AB800 camera left and x1 AlienBees AB1600 camera right both shot through large softboxes to provide kicker light.
I think this is my first full-on sci-fi composite :)
The finished version is HERE
The main background was a CGI render along with other bits and pieces for the final result.
