Digital Art - Fractals

Well, here is another creation. I am working on the same new process. I think this one has been perfected a little more. I am not sure. You be the judge. : ) This one was more work, but it was worth all the experiments that were necessary to bring it to this point. The bad thing is that I can't remember exactly what all the steps were. So this is probably a one of a kind.

My first attempts at image manipulation - what do we think?

Taken during a recent trip to Cornwall at St. Ives. Again, I'm experimenting with ICM and image manipulation techniques to try to achieve the look I want.

This is the harbor in the summer, photo taken at 03:13am just before the sun came up, England.

I love long exposures, everything to do with night time, the dark, sunrise and sunset.

I like to take pictures mainly at night , sometimes during the day and in dull and fading light and I will sometimes display the time and date the picture was taken too.

I tend to take pictures of Light trails, Motorway traffic, Street lights, Buildings, Landscapes, Bokeh, Night bokeh and Hexagonal Night Bokeh in England.

All of my pictures are 100% natural and untouched in every way without ever been Photo shopped or altered or messed about with in anyway whatsoever, No multi layered photography, No HDR's and No image manipulation of any kind, all of my pictures look just the way they did when I saw them at the time of taking and I'm VERY PROUD of that.

I don't do any photo processing at all, I don't even own any photo software.

All of my starbursts are all 100% natural without using any filters or anything else, as is all my bokeh, night bokeh and hexagonal night bokeh, its all natural, no funny gimmicks at all.

I don't do anything with my pictures apart from take them and then upload them , 99.99999% of my pictures don't even get cropped , they are all 100% natural and untouched and then uploaded.

This is a very old piece that I created about ten years ago, but given my better knowledge of Photoshop these days, I have made some improvements. Not sure how valid it is to revisit old work like this, but rediscovered it on my hard drive today and couldn't resist a little play...

You won't find this forest on any tourist information map or a National Park Map as it's a forest managed for logging.

This planted forest is one of England's biggest managed forests and spans several miles in all directions, there's no road, no foot path, no bridleways, no car parks, no toilets, nothing, just miles and miles of dense forest, this picture was taken from roughly the middle of the forest.

For 122 pictures in 2022 #91 "Selective color", this is a red habanero chile sitting on a pile of aji lemon drop chiles, which are yellow in real life. This was a hard one to do, as all my life I have had trouble coloring inside the lines, lol. Manipulation done in GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program), a quite powerful Free image editor available for Windows, Linux, and MAC. My dear friends I am taking time of from Flickr to heal from a concussion due to a car accident on the first week of this New Year. Your prayers are welcome.

Queridos amigos estoy ausente de Flickr por un tiempo para recuperarme de una contusion cerebral que tengo debido a un accidente automovilisto que tuve la primer semana de este Nuevo Ano. Sus oraciones son bienvenidas.

This was taken exactly 1 year ago today!

The location was the south end of the Crystal Springs Reservoir by the side of HWY I-280 between San Jose and San Francisco. The reservoir is basically a big crack in the land as part of the geologically famous San Andreas Fault.

The mountain in the background was part of the Santa Cruz Mountains that separate the Pacific Ocean and the inside of the San Francisco Bay. The marine clouds frequently pour over these low mountains into the Bay Area. Here we had a layer of clouds that were just a few tree heights above ground. Holes in the clouds allowed a few beams of sun light to cast lighted spots on the ground.

This scenery reminds me of many classical European landscape paintings, except this is in America :-)

Image Manupulations (would be un-me if I didn't do it on this one :-):

1. Enhanced lighting effect

2. Changed hue map so that grass is as green :-)

'Let there be Light' On Black

I could not resist sharing this photo even though I'm still very much away from Flickr :-)

Many photos look more impressive than real life scenes (that's what photography is supposed to do :-)). This scene, however, is more spiritual than my photo could have ever captured!!! So, please at least VIEW IT IN LARGE.

This came out of my new year's day hike, about 10:00 AM PST, at 920 ft elevation above sea level, from Battery 129 on Hawk Hill that was part of the historic military installations (now defunct) that guarded the entrance to the San Francisco Bay. The Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco's skyscrapers were floating in and out of these low-hanging marine clouds, which would appear as thick fog to the beings on the ground :-). Two helicopters flew by, and they were dwarfed by the pillars of the bridge. Just enormous human creations interacting with nature's Sea of Clouds!

Wish you were there! And Happy New Year 2007! :-)

This was a technically difficult shot because of the back lit conditions, high brightness, and lack of contrast. So some degree of image manipulation was done, mainly towards improving the quality of the image rather than changing how it looks. In fact, I'd claim this was what it looked!!! :-)

Christmas in Australia, 2006.

Hope Santa has swapped his sleigh and sack of presents for a tank of water and a fire bombing aircraft.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The picture of the rising sun is pretty much what it looked like this morning, Wednesday 20.12.2006. Heavy smoke haze from the bushfires blowing in over Melbourne.. The air temperature should be higher than it is but the smoke is screening the sun and keeping it down....one break at least for the firefighters.

The rest is a photoshopped work up of our Christmas Tree plus a fire alarm I've got sitting around, with the ground being developed from a tie-dyed sheet red-lit by the glow from the same smokey morning sun.

Digital filter play abstractifying architect Frank Gehry's already amorphous shell around Seattle's Experience Music Project building. It's already a beautiful unique structure in its own right, but I love playing with digital image manipulation and just can't seem to leave well enough alone!

EXPLORED 23/13/07 TOP POSITION: FRONT PAGE. Thanks ya all for the support on this one, guys!!!!

How to make the notes disappear: Firstly put the cursor over a portion of the picture not covered by a note, then move the cursor off of the picture without passing over another note. ;-)

Como fazer as notas desaparecerem: Coloque o cursor do mouse sobre uma parte da foto nao coberta por uma nota, depois mova o cursor para fora da foto sem esbarra-lo em outra nota! ;-)

This was most interesting picture with the tag BRAZIL, HDR and PHOTOSHOP, according to Flickr. Thank you all for the feedback on this, guys! P.S: Now it doesn't stand on the first place anymore, due to the constant Flickr algorithm changing! ;-)

* Another picture from the Farm. I created the HDR from a single .jpeg and then edited the white balance using Photoshop. Changed the colour balance, added more sharpness on the field and desaturated the road a little bit. The concept was to change the landscape into a surrealistic and eery atmosphere; but atractive at the same time, without losing the original feeling of this shot.

This is Cherry Knowle Mental Asylum in the North East of England designed by the Architect: George Thomas Hine it was built between 1891 - 1895 and an isolation hospital and infirmary block were added in 1902, and is 1049 ft long from end to end and with corridors over 300 ft long, its a very creepy place to be near on a dark or foggy night and i don't scare easily , patients have been know to escape form this building quite alot , its now abandoned which i think makes it more creepy , if you go inside the place alot of the old stuff is still left behind just as if they left in a hurry , operating tables , medical cabinets , beds , and even patients oil paintings.

This place is totally MASSIVE and it even has its own build in church it has a swimming pool and a theater with stage and its own morgue to store dead bodies, all of witch has been abandoned , it was abandoned in 1995 , 100 years after it opened.

This place really is MASSIVE, it goes on and on, some corridors are over 300 ft long and the building is spread 3 floors, the church alone is over 100 ft tall, its unbelievable how big this place really is, its not possible to see it all at the same time.

This has been comented on, on TV and in the news papers as been the most haunted hospital and mental asylum in the country.

On the same grounds where this stands is the new Cherry knowle mental asylum buildings that now houses all patients , them new building are alot less creepy because they look more new ( from the 70's ) and don't look like the style of building norman Bates lives in ( physco film ) lol.

the road to redemption is steep

a lengthy hard climb indeed

...often happens when it is very polluted, when there is lots of water or dust in the air, or during the morning or dusk when sunlight passes though more of the atmosphere to reach us giving it more opportunities to scatter off of stuff in the air...according to Wikianswer :D

Just wanted to clear out something here that i didn't changed the skies colors, yes, it was photoshopped; enhanced contrast by adjusting the level & selective colors (its too Pink for my liking), i don't like the purple tint too but do not know how to get rid of it without affecting the whole image. I also done a little bit of dodging, and of cos smart sharpening.. or is it the same thing as image manipulation?:P I also attached gnd filters to balanced the exposure. I'll tell you IF i made an EXTREME PP on my photo :P

We often have a very dramatic sunset in Kota Kinabalu and i just happened to be there LOL, although i did missed a lot of sunset.

Great morning/day/evening wherever you are. I badly wanted to dedicate this picture to Jeff Brown www.flickr.com/photos/jeffiebrown/ hope your side is not so grey anymore, smile Jeffie dear :)..heres a lil bit pink color for you :P

UPDATE: Replaced the original picture, i finally found out how to get rid of the purple tint. The previous photo is below in the comment box. Which one is better? honestly i love the re edited version.
