Sir Paddington Paws, a Bichon Frise-Maltese mix, turns a year old this month. “I am an energetic, playful and friendly,” he writes. “Two of my favorite pastimes are getting belly rubs and playing fetch with my owner and best friend, Jennifer.” In this photo, Paddington notes he is wearing one of his favorite hoodies in one of his favorite positions (asking for a belly rub).
Einstein was found as a starving stray at a local mall. “We had no idea what color he was, as he was so dirty and covered with some really nasty stuff,” says Jeff, his dog dad. “When he was cleaned up we felt we had no choice but to name him Einstein.”
“Forgive the puppy-dog stare – Flash can't help himself,” says Danielle, dog mom of this 8-week-old future agility star. “No one can resist his blue-and-brown sparkle, matched only by the flecks of white on his tiny button nose. This boy has got a magical gaze that makes me swoon.”
Chanel is a 3-year-old, long-haired, purebred Chihuahua. “What do I love most about my dog? Come on, she's a Chi!” says Ashley, her dog mom. “I love every last thing about her, from her being the biggest cuddlebug; a spoiled little brat; being only 4 pounds; her long, soft, fluffy coat; her crooked teeth; and, most of all, her gremlin face!”
“One cold day in January 2009, while I was volunteering walking dogs at the shelter, I was rescued by an Angel,” says dog mom Sarah. “She was the deaf dog in the last kennel that desperately needed out.” Sarah adopted Angel the next day. After receiving certification as a therapy dog in October 2009, Angel and Sarah have been visiting nursing home, “giving and receiving smiles...there is nothing quite as precious as a Pitty Smile!” Sarah says.
Bambi, a 2-year-old Chihuahua, broke three toes when she was 5 months old. “She was hopping down the step to the patio when it happened,” says her dog mom. “Her personality is as cute as she looks. I love everything about her!”
“This is Koji, my exceptionally furry 10-month-old Shiba Inu who had joyfully rolled in poison ivy!” says his dog mom, Kristi. “I ended up having a severe reaction to him when he decided to sit on me, so off to the bath he went! And he was not happy about it.”
