Nemesis (right) and her 8-week-old puppy were trotting down the street when their pet parent Shay rescued them in 2004. Shay found a great home for the puppy, and fostered Nemmi while the Pit Bull had some parasites cleared up. “During that time I fell in love,” Shay says. “She has this thing where she holds down smaller critters, dogs and cats alike, and nibbles (grooms) them up and down with her little front teeth. It is so cute to watch.” While her cats will only put up with it for a short period of time, Shay says her hound dog “will let her do it forever.”
Dakota, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in January 2009, was “the size of a Great Dane,” says his dog mom, Pam. “He got me through the roughest of times and I am forever grateful. He was my shadow, my best friend and a huge, 150-pound baby. His left ear always tilted over and never stood up straight – it was his trademark and added to his great personality.
Onyx is a 4-year-old Chihuahua. “I love his eyes because loves me so much and wants to be around me all the time, that all I see is love in them,” says his dog mom, Faith. “He prances around, plays with his brother and loves his walks. He also loves to travel with me in his black bag.”
Radar aka WarrenMtn's Li'l Radar Love is an 8-year-old who “owns” a family of five. “Radar has been our loving family companion since 2003,” says his dog mom, Carmeta. “He grew up with our two children at the time, and at 2 years old, he welcomed our third child into the world (pulling him on the boogie board in this photo). Our 6-year-old daughter can get away with anything with him, and he loves her to bits. They are the best of friends, and we couldn't ask for a better FIRST (but not last!) Rat Terrier.”
Cruella, aka Ella Boo, will be 4 years old in October. “The reason she is so loveable is because she is extremely goofy and energetic,” says Nichole, her dog mom. “She does this thing where she runs fast and then just drops to the floor and flips and rolls. She thinks she’s a human. When she sleeps she HAS to have her head on the pillow and body under the sheets. She my priced possession, I love her so much.”
