Two-year-old Flash “has the best personality,” says his dog mom, Kathy. “He’s super-easy to live with but ready at the drop of a hat to work. Flash loves to swim and run agility. I want to believe that out of all of those things, he loves me best."
Zippy, a Standard Poodle who’s now 4 years old, was 9 weeks old in this photo. “I had only had Zippy a couple of days and managed to step on her when I was running one of my other dogs. I felt awful!” says her dog mom, Lisa. Fortunately no bones were broken, but Zippy’s foot was badly sprained, so she had to wear a soft cast for 10 days. “If you look at the photo, you will see that this did not stop her,” Lisa says. “I tried my best to keep it clean, but she would have none of it. It hardly slowed her down at all. She still does everything at full speed ahead.”
“One cold day in January 2009, while I was volunteering walking dogs at the shelter, I was rescued by an Angel,” says dog mom Sarah. “She was the deaf dog in the last kennel that desperately needed out.” Sarah adopted Angel the next day. After receiving certification as a therapy dog in October 2009, Angel and Sarah have been visiting nursing home, “giving and receiving smiles...there is nothing quite as precious as a Pitty Smile!” Sarah says.
Bandit’s dog mom Katrin found her on the streets in her neighborhood last November. “ She had to wear the cone after her spaying surgery. She did so with dignity!” Katrin says. “She's the most cheerful creature I know, and I love her so much.”
Owen is a 12-year-old rescue Jack Russell Terrier. “When Owen sleeps, he really knows how to do it,” says his dog mom, Janeen. “We love his belly because it is soooo pink and he loves a little scratch. Owen plays hard and he sleeps hard! Owen doesn’t do anything half way…we love him so much. We are so happy that we were there when he needed us most. He has filled our life with laughs and continues to live life large!
