My Project 52 group theme for Week 48 is Levitation.
I have to admit that I had a lot of fun making this week's themed image, although it took far longer to produce than I'd initially anticipated!
It took me a while to decide how I was going to levitate the coins above the coin stack.
Initially I thought I'd just use magic, but this turned out to be harder than I'd anticipated! So, I opted for a much more mundane technique, and attached the coins to thick cocktail type sticks using double sided sticky tape!
I took two shots, one focussing on the coin stack against a white background, and one focussing on the nearest coin stuck to the sticks. I then used Photoshop to merge the two, removing the sticks using a layer mask...
I quite like the resultant image, and am pleased I persevered!
I hope you like it too...
I decided against following the Project 52 group theme for Week 44!
That's because it's Halloween! I'm posting this skeletal hydrangea bract - not very terrifying, I know - but it's the best I could come up with for the supposedly scariest day of the year!
Happy Halloween! :)
It's so hot at the moment, that all of my insect buddies are dashing around like there isn't a minute to spare!
I only took a second to frame this bee collecting pollen from the bramble blossom, but as I clicked the shutter he was off again!
Luckily, I managed to catch his departure! :)

So, I've interrupted my waterlogged photostream to bring you Chocolate!
Why? Because that's this week's Macro Mondays group theme!
It was really fortuitous that we had this chocolate cake left over from Christmas, and I happened to find it while looking in the freezer for something completely different!
I made the decision there and then that it needed to be sacrificed for this week's theme! :)
HMM!
Okay, so despite going to bed hours ago, I can't seem to sleep despite being so tired my eyes won't stay open! *sniff*
So, here's a little friend that emerged from my drip tray that made me smile! *cough*
I present to you, The Surfing Tortoise! :)
*splutter*
Goodnight once again...
Sorry for posting another hoverfly, on another yellow weed! I had a very limited amount of time to find a bug this morning, and this one was the only compliant one!
Also, sorry for posting and running again! My deadline is looming, and I'm working flat out to meet it!
Thank you for the comments and favourites in the meantime, and I look forward to catching up with you all at the weekend! :)

So I had a completely different water splash shot planned for today...
However, when I loaded the images onto my computer, I found this monstrous looking individual staring back at me! He seems to be living in my drip tray, and the constant splashing must have awoken him!
I'm assuming everyone else can see the evil - or is it just me? :)
I'm sorry for posting and running but I'm completely knackered! I'll catch up with everyone tomorrow!
After spending a day with the new flickr interface, I was going to have a bit of a rant!
But you know what? I really can't be bothered!
It won't make an ounce of difference what I say, so I'm electing to save my energy, go to bed, and have a good night's sleep!
However, as a software engineer, I'm very interested in your opinions on the new look and feel, so don't hold back if you have something to say - good or bad! :)

I made the cardinal sin when I bought this rose for a container on my patio - I bought it when it was already in full bloom, and had no flower buds! These lasted for approximately one week!
However, when the flowers had decayed, I took to the bush with my secateurs and cut it right back!
I've now been rewarded with a second flush of flowers, which should keep my patio looking colourful until the end of September! :)

From the archives - a heron stretches its wings...

I've been busy putting together an Etsy shop over the past few days, to sell my photo greetings cards! If you'd like to take a look you can find it here!

Amongst other things such as general bird seed, peanuts, fat balls and the odd piece of bacon rind, I've been feeding the birds these sunflower seeds!
They can't get enough of them!
So much so that they leave all of the other goodies until these have all been devoured!
I'm almost tempted to try a few myself! :)
The weekly theme for my P365 group this week is Water!
Now, it may seem strange that I've just done three months straight of water drop shots, and the minute I decide to try my hand at something different, the theme of water comes up!
However, rather than rebuild my water drop rig, I decided to try and do the theme inside my current monthly theme of Somebody's Garden!
It shouldn't be a problem, as it's a bank holiday weekend here, so it's bound to rain for a few days, and the forecast looks promising! :)
Anyway, to get me started with the theme, this is a female blackbird, enjoying a quick morning wash in my dad's garden, where he uses an old seed tray as a bird bath! As you can see, the birds don't seem to mind!

Having spent a fair few hours agonising over the broken valve on my water drip system, I managed to go all Heath Robinson, and put something together to keep me in the water drip game this month!
Considering I was getting in a bit of a panic about how I was going to deliver the water to my drip tray, I don't think my cobbled together DIY valve, involving plastic tubing, cotton wool and some sticky tape has done a bad job here!
I'll be glad to get a replacement valve though, as I definitely didn't get as many keepers because the water flow was less consistent, thus less predictable!
I can only hope it's still in one piece by tomorrow! :)
It rained today! A lot!
There was about a half hour window of sunshine this morning when I traipsed around dad's sodden garden, looking for something interesting to shoot!
Out of the corner of my eye I spotted this beauty, as it took the opportunity to sit in the sun while the rain held off!
Of course, I was actually looking to shoot a bird, so unusually, had a long zoom lens fitted to the camera instead of my macro lens! Doh!
However, I was quite pleased with this result, especially as the Comma is a new butterfly for me in dad's garden! :)

I'm starting to run out of ideas for my Abstract Nature theme this month! I've got a couple in reserve, otherwise I'm about 10 shots short!
Therefore I was so pleased to see this snail munching away on a leaf for a change, and knew it's spiralling shell would fit my theme nicely!
Thank you for all of your get well messages over the past few days! It seems I've contracted another bout of cellulitis, so, if this bout is anything like the others, I'll have good and bad days for the next three weeks!
I hope you'll stick with me on the bad days as well as the good!
Now, I've got to put my thinking cap on for tomorrow's shot before I fall asleep! :)

Here's something else that's a bit different from me, and which qualifies as another snippet from my garden!
It's an abstract shot of my bird feeding station, reflected in a terracotta pot filled with water, that the birds use as a bird bath!
I can appreciate that it's not for everyone, but it's got something about it that I quite like, so I'm making it my picture of the day! So there! :)

Okay, I've finished my month of insects, and this month I'm shooting anything that takes my fancy! It just so happens that the first thing to take my fancy today was an insect!
Sorry for posting and running again! I'm still not feeling well, but will catch up with you as soon as is physically possible! :)
