I've just about finished processing all of my water drop images which means I've got just under 200 to upload!
That should keep me going for a while, although I'm seriously thinking about shooting some more when the dark nights come round again! :)

It's around 2am here, and I'm having trouble sleeping at the moment as I've got an irritating cough!
Every time I lie down, I start coughing! It's most annoying!
Anyway, as is usual under such circumstances, I searched my image archive for an appropriate image to upload!
This is what I found! :)

So today I wanted to shoot an image to celebrate St. Patrick's Day!
I had my checklist of what was required...
1. Something green - three external flashguns sporting green gels - check!
2. Some sort of crazy idea - like shooting a water drop collision in front of something recognisable as Irish - check!
3. Something recognisable as Irish - a pint of Guinness - check!
4. The luck of the Irish - err, I guess - check!
The only thing I don't like about this shot is that I won't be able to add it to my stock image collections as it contains a registered trademark! Grrr! I wish I'd found a stuffed leprechaun to use as the reflection now! :)
Actually, after typing that, I think I can see a leprechaun in the water drop collision! Yes, and he's smoking a pipe! Yes, I see him! Don't you? He's definitely there! Or maybe I've drunk too much of the black stuff! :)

I didn't have time to shoot anything suitable for this week's Macro Mondays group theme of Round: 12/08/2013.
However, I found this rather perplexing falling water drop in my archives, and thought it fit the theme nicely!
HMM! :)

I was experimenting with shallow depth of field here (f/7.1), as it was back when my sensor had lots of dust on it, and I was trying to get away with not having to remove the dust spots in post processing!
It's a shame that only the top of the splash is in crisp focus, although I still like the formation of the collision and the colour combination from the pink and green flash gels!

Okay, today I think I've finally nailed it! I mean the high key thing!
I not only think that this is the best image in my high key series, but I also think it may be the best image so far in my water drop series!
Yes, today, I'm finally happy with one of my water drop shots! :)

Sorry for posting daylilies two days in a row, but...
...imagine my surprise when I went out onto the patio this morning and a daylily plant that yesterday had about 50 flower buds, was now sporting at least 30 flowers!
It made what to shoot for my pic of the day an obvious decision! :)

I thought I'd try and create a fiery water drop collision today! I combined the orange and yellow (straw) flash gels to achieve the colours, which I think came out rather well!
Thankfully, I managed to get a collision very quickly today, as this horrible cellulitis seems to have drained all of my energy even more than it has in the past!
At least I get to go off and have another lie down to try and recoup some of it! :)

As promised, here is a water drop collision within a rather psychedelic looking water drip tray!
This took rather a long time to produce as I was running out of hands! I needed one hand to stir the water, one to regulate the droplets falling and another one to trip the shutter! I was lucky I had enough! :)

I was in a bit of a rush today, and most of my shots either came out either blurry, or uninteresting!
This was the best of the bunch by a very long mark, and it quite surprised me when I saw it in Lightroom! The clarity in the Stargate like orifice is quite fantastic!
I wish I could shoot one like this every day! :)

After playing around with my water drop rig for most of the afternoon, and tweaking it here and there, I decided I was going to shoot a water crown today - and also try and get a reflection of it! Having decided this, and feeling really confident about getting some good results, the batteries in both of my flashguns died!
So, after a few hours charging, and a trip online to order yet more batteries, I was good to go!
Now, as you can see, this isn't a water crown, nor has it got a reflection, however, it was my favourite shot from this evening's shoot, and I rather like the clarity I managed to catch in the droplet! In fact it's probably the sharpest shot of a water drop I've ever taken!
I'll save the water crown for another day...
For those who are interested, the colour comes from a piece of pink card placed underneath the glass bowl I was dropping the water into!
I know, my stream is in danger of becoming flooded with all of these water shots! :)
But, I've been promising you a water crown shot for a few days now, and today's the day I'm going to deliver on that promise!
I'll admit, it may look like someone has sat on the crown, as it's looking a bit flat, but, I really like the way the green gels I used on the camera flashguns have toned the image!
I've got larger, taller, spikier ones I'll post later, but this is the one I'm going with for today's 365 project shot!
I'm off to play with a bottle of milk and some food dye now! :)
Despite having a complete garden makeover, it was quite nice to see a favourite flower make a return!
My garden had been taken over by horsetail grass in recent years, so I took steps to irradicate it over the winter months! This involved ripping everything out, preparing the ground, covering it with a double layer of weed matting, then covering this with four inches of gravel! That should keep the evil stuff at bay!
I should point out that I didn't do the work myself! :)
The only thing that worries me now is that if the poppies managed to survive, perhaps the horsetail grass did too!
Oh well...

I was in a bit of a rush today to get this one done, and although I'm quite happy with the shape of the collision, I'm not at all happy with the blend of colours! I'm also annoyed that I used too high a power on the flashes, which hasn't frozen the action, and has caused some ghosting on the whole shot!
Oh well, every day can't be a masterpiece! :)

Nothing seems to be going right with my water drop set-up today! Everything I've shot has been either out of focus, out of frame, or simply uninteresting!
So, here's one from last week that I was rather pleased with!
Right, must get back to shooting something for today...
Wish me luck! :)
