We were caught in the Great Southwest Airlines Debacle of Christmas 2022. Our flight from San Jose to Dallas was late taking off and then had to sit on the tarmac for forever waiting for a gate when we landed. Our connecting flight to Birmingham was cancelled with no hope of getting there in a reasonable time frame. Fortunately Dallas to Tuscaloosa is only 8 or 9 hours of driving, so we rented a car and hit the road. We stopped at about midnight in Vicksburg. The next morning I spent the entire 3 hour drive to Tuscaloosa on hold waiting to talk to Southwest.
Our bags were stuck in purgatory. One bag finally turned up in Birmingham on December 31 (although they didn't tell me that -- I had to go to the airport myself and discover it there). The other bag, as of Jan 2, is still missing.
I took this photo after dropping off my rental car and making my first fruitless trip to the Southwest baggage office.

We took a little drive one morning because we heard there was a nesting pair of bald eagles in a nearby neighborhood. The eagles' nest was easy to find but the eagles themselves were not around. On the other hand, there was a discarded chandelier on the street corner. You have to enjoy what nature chooses to give you.

The day after the fire revealed all the burned land. I went for a walk through our mountains. I was able to walk back pretty far since there was no thick brush. The air quality was very poor.
To bad my mirror is dirty! Getting in that last minute photo of the day! Today was a bit rough. Lot going on at work making for a mentally draining day. Time is going by so fast.
Our Daily Challenge: Energy Efficient
We have had solar panels and a battery backup installed, a very energy efficient step.
