I resurrected my Wonderland prompt with references to Brothers Quay and the Lady in the Radiator, and added as the lead 'Cryptid Taxidermy'. From the few tries so far, this makes for a very interesting trip into Surreal Weirdville.

In the February 2009 copy of Digital Photo PRO, the successful photographer Erik Almas is quoted as saying " I feel more like a maker of Pictures, than a taker"
I have been very inspired by the Norwegian photographer Erik Almas known for his signature style and hyperreal lighting.
His images are fabulous composites that impart the illusion of a depth of field so long it verges on the infinite. If his pictures look too perfect to have been captured in a single exposure, it's because they weren't.

Personally, I have found that combining different photographs to achieve the look you want captivating. I certainly don't have the time to camp out at different venues for days and weeks on end to get the ideal climatic conditions for my images. So I photograph different images and compose the landscape I would have liked to see. Much like the old Master Painters who composed their paintings from various sources to get the perfect light, composition, interest etc.
I don't see myself as a purist. I am an artist who uses digital photography in every way possible. The way I see it, apart from Street /candid photography, most images are staged, even landscapes that have not been subjected to digital manipulation. It may be the crop, the tonal tweaking, the angle, even something as simple as choosing the right time of day.. etc.
