Beautiful pink and blue hydrangeas at the pond in Trebah Garden. They have a valley full of hydrangeas as well as a lot of 'champion' trees: the oldest, the tallest, the widest, ... you name it!
Looking Close... on Friday: Blue on a white background.
Interesting how sometimes the blues go toward green and other times toward mauve with almost the same set-up.
Part of the Grandchildren's wooden toy rainbow.
Background texture and butterfly created with Dream by Wombo, blended with my photo of a hydrangea, then further blended and softened with Pastello and PicLight.
Such a short time ago, the Hydrangeas were plump and purple. Now they are fading to various shades of pink, purple, green and yellow, each flower unique in its Autumn colors.

Hydrangea, common names hydrangea or hortensia is a genus of 70–75 species of flowering plants native to Asia and the Americas. It belongs to the Hydrangeaceae family. ‘Hydrangea’ is derived from Greek and means ‘water vessel’, which is in reference to the shape of its seed capsules. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably Korea, China, and Japan. Most are shrubs 1 to 3 meters tall, but some are small trees, and others reaching up to 30 m by climbing up trees. They can be either deciduous or evergreen, though the widely cultivated temperate species are all deciduous. Flowers are produced from early spring to late autumn; they grow in flowerheads most often at the ends of the stems. 13485

The third and last image in this Hydrangea series...
Old fashioned and easily recognized, these showy, 10-inch flowers have graced American gardens for hundreds of years.
Native to the eastern United States, they are technically called Hydrangea arborescens 'Annabelle', but are commonly called Annabelles or Snowballs.
We have two stands of them in our landscape and they never disappoint.
Enjoy!
