Hydrangeas are large shrubs that produce clusters of white, pink, or blue flowers, their color depending on the acidic level of the soil. These thirsty plants do best in light shade with rich, well-drained soil.

a quick trip through the back yard this morning.

I have also some flower pictures from my trip to France !

Linda, my wife, tells me this is a hydrangea, "Annabelle Lee", which is doing fine this year because of the cool spring.

At least that is the name I remember, from our annual Progress through the yard, re-introducing me to plants. SWMBO is the gardener, I dig as directed.

 

Hydrangeas are planted in Madeira to prevent soil erosion on the mountain slopes.
