The bloom of blue hydrangea.

This species retains something of Hydrangea macrophylla f. normalis (‘Gaku-ajisai’ in Japanese), the original species of various hydrangea cultivars.

Every year I take some dried Hydrangea flower heads inside the house for decoration.

After some months, due to dust and tiny spider cobwebs, they are moved to the compost heap.

The "Smile on Saturday" challenge theme "get nature in your home!" came just in time to take this macro.

This photo was taken inside the house, camera in one hand, flower between two fingertips of the other one !

This morning in my garden I was surprised to see for the first time this spectacular colour of an hydrangea really violet ! No saturation added !

Hydrangea, commonly named the hortensia, is a genus of more than 75 species of flowering plants native to Asia and the Americas. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably China, Korea, and Japan.

in a container in my garden. I do love this colour - I have two containers with hydrangeas, the other flowers are pink. I've no idea why this should be, just 'luck' I expect 😃 !

Slightly edited in Topaz Studio.

Thank you for your visit - I hope you like my macro.

Enjoy what's left of our summer !
