January 7, 2016: Due to the warm weather as of late, I've got a few dying hydrangeas that still have some color in them. I took a photos, but it wasn't up to snuff, so I placed it into PhotoScape until I got a look I liked.
I'm just going to have fun this Project 365 366.

Hydrangea is a genus of 70–75 species of flowering plants native to southern and eastern Asia and the Americas. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably China, Japan, and Korea.
With immense flower heads, hydrangeas flaunt an old-fashioned charm that is hard to resist. Colors also beguile with clear blues, vibrant pinks, frosty whites, lavender, and rose—sometimes all blooming on the same plant!
The colors of some hydrangeas—especially mophead and lacecap—can change color based on the soil pH, which affects relative availability of aluminum ions. Acidic soils with a pH of less than 5.5 produce blue flowers; soils with a pH greater than 5.5 product pink flowers. White flowers are not affected by pH.
Unrivaled in the shrub world, these elegant ladies are easy to cultivate, tolerate almost any soil, and produce flowers in mid-summer through fall (when little else may be in bloom). Hydrangeas are excellent for a range of garden sites from group plantings to shrub borders to containers.
There are two flower arrangements in hydrangeas with Corymb style inflorescens, which includes the commonly grown Bigleaf hydrangea - Hydrangea macrophylla. Mophead flowers are large round flowerheads resembling pom-poms or, as the name implies, the head of a mop. In contrast, lacecap flowers bear round, flat flowerheads with a center core of subdued, small flowers surrounded by outer rings of larger flowers having showy sepals or tepals. The flowers of some rhododendrons and viburnums can appear, at first glance, similar to those of some hydrangeas.

"Blue Hydrangea Bloom" by Patti Deters. A large blue hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla) blossom glows in afternoon light. The large mophead flower is made up of many small individual flowers and petals. The petals showcase shades of blue and purple, enhancing the flower's intricate beauty. These perennial shrubs are showstoppers and amazing to see during peak bloom season. Thank you for viewing this picture. . . . Like everyone else, I am posting a hydrangea picture from the yard, only I decided to make mine into a giant sequoia!
Have a great week Facebook, Flickr, and 500px friends!
The very pretty bloom of a Hydrangea. The blue color of the florets indicates the plant is rooted in acidic soil.
Forget the name on this one. It is about 15 feet right now and growing. The blossom's are filling in and I will try to get a shot from the roof since it is close to full bloom.
The XF 55-200 lens is one of those lenses I never think much about, but once I have it mounted on a camera, it is so enjoyable to use. It is versatile and allows for close-ups as well.
The Hydrangeas did very well this year, although in general the heads are smaller probably due to the hot summer.
Now some have been dried and form a lovely dash of colour in the room.
Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words "hydro" or water, and "angeion," or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water.
A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.
Flower lovers will know that there is a flower language.
Every sentiment is expressed in one form or another by delicate blooms.
Of course, even the experts disagree on the "true meaning" of many flowers and most have different meanings to different people.
So, while all flowers convey thoughtfulness and love, a gift of flowers for a special someone will always create its own personal meaning, too.
HYDRANGEA - Thank You for Understanding.

I discovered this oak leaf hydrangea nearby, I googled it but am confused by its variegated leaf colour. This is supposed to occur in the Autumn months, not in the Spring, but could not find a cultivar which matched this happening earlier in the summer.
In most species of Hydrangea the flowers are white, but in some species, can be blue, red, pink, or purple. In Hydrangea species the exact color often depends upon the acidity or alkalinity of the soil. Acidic soils produce blue flowers, neutral soils produce pale cream petals, and alkaline soils result in pink or purple. www.theflowerexpert.com
