Hydrangea's Spring pom-poms...

Taken at the JFK Arboretum in Co. Wexford. For my 100 Flowers project which I'm determined to finish before the end of December, just 22 photos to go.

Number 57 for 100 flowers 2020

In flower at present in the garden

I find it needs much more water than other Hydrangea species

Found this skeleton hydrangea head in my garden, it was only when I photographed it that it struck me how heart shaped it was.

My Hydrangea bush has one new blossom on it. I slid it some to make it more purple than pink in hue. HSS!

A nifty fifty freelens shot can give a lovely soft focus.

@VanDusen Botanical Garden

The Hydrangeas did very well this year, although in general the heads are smaller probably due to the hot summer.

Now some have been dried and form a lovely dash of colour in the room.

Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words "hydro" or water, and "angeion," or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water.

A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.

Flower lovers will know that there is a flower language.

Every sentiment is expressed in one form or another by delicate blooms.

Of course, even the experts disagree on the "true meaning" of many flowers and most have different meanings to different people.

So, while all flowers convey thoughtfulness and love, a gift of flowers for a special someone will always create its own personal meaning, too.

HYDRANGEA - Thank You for Understanding.

Have a wonderful day and thank you for your comments with all my heart, M, (*_*)

i love blue hydrangeas. even after they faded, they have their own beauty.

Ummm...so I was taking these shots for my sister since she loves hydrangeas...then I went and ordered them for my house, LOL...I did a series of 3 (the largest being a 24x48 canvas!)!! I'm so excited ;)

On a sad note...my nifty fifty has been on the fritz...it is now completely broken...I'm so sad...maybe DH will let me spring for the 1.4!

Wow, explored #121! Thanks everyone!!

Hydrangea series from the Bowen Island "People, Plants, & Places" [PPP] Garden Tour 2018.

I didn't know such an incredible variety of colours and shapes existed in the hydrangea "family".

The lime coloured hydrangea transitions to 3 other colours during its blooming time!!! Amazing.
