. . . Like everyone else, I am posting a hydrangea picture from the yard, only I decided to make mine into a giant sequoia!
Have a great week Facebook, Flickr, and 500px friends!
Forget the name on this one. It is about 15 feet right now and growing. The blossom's are filling in and I will try to get a shot from the roof since it is close to full bloom.
The XF 55-200 lens is one of those lenses I never think much about, but once I have it mounted on a camera, it is so enjoyable to use. It is versatile and allows for close-ups as well.
The Hydrangeas did very well this year, although in general the heads are smaller probably due to the hot summer.
Now some have been dried and form a lovely dash of colour in the room.
Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words "hydro" or water, and "angeion," or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water.
A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.
Flower lovers will know that there is a flower language.
Every sentiment is expressed in one form or another by delicate blooms.
Of course, even the experts disagree on the "true meaning" of many flowers and most have different meanings to different people.
So, while all flowers convey thoughtfulness and love, a gift of flowers for a special someone will always create its own personal meaning, too.
HYDRANGEA - Thank You for Understanding.

I discovered this oak leaf hydrangea nearby, I googled it but am confused by its variegated leaf colour. This is supposed to occur in the Autumn months, not in the Spring, but could not find a cultivar which matched this happening earlier in the summer.
In most species of Hydrangea the flowers are white, but in some species, can be blue, red, pink, or purple. In Hydrangea species the exact color often depends upon the acidity or alkalinity of the soil. Acidic soils produce blue flowers, neutral soils produce pale cream petals, and alkaline soils result in pink or purple. www.theflowerexpert.com
Our Hydrangeas are all budding now. Beautiful flowers very soon!

I took this image for the KaleidoContest, theme for this month was Weltschmerz (world-weariness). I immediately had this concept in mind. It was pretty difficult to handle the remote trigger while I was laying in my bathtub which was filled with water, milk and a few hydrangea blossoms. I had visited my grandparents about one week ago and my grandma allowed me to take the blossoms from her garden, because they already began to wilt and fade - I never thought I would use them so quickly for a project.
with the precious memories. hydrageas with sunrise. blue is special color for me. and maybe for you too, isn't it?

At almost 4 Inches high, Hydrangea has been made with loving detail, using a wide variety of materials: her face, bust and hands are made of resin plaster and colored with acrylic paint, her hair is made of wool roving, lightly needle felted to maintain its shape. The upper part of her dress is made of a variety of fabrics and hand tailored to fit her tiny bust and arms. The lower part of her dress is a felt 'softie' filled with polyester fiber. The hydrangeas are made of polymer clay.
A close up shot of a beautiful Hydrangea flower cluster (or whatever it's called), seen along a local street in our Brooklyn neighborhood. We hope you enjoy it!
The driveway of the cottage that we stayed in at Lucas Pond in Northwood, NH was lined with hydrangea bushes in full blossom. The blush of pink fading to white was so beautiful. Press "L" for a better view.
