Micro shot of a beautiful pink Hydrangea bush in our garden

in our garden ... for a Happy Weekend!

Hydrangea / Gartenhortensie (Hydrangea macrophylla)

On such a dreary winter day I needed to see a little bit of color!

Hydrangea quercifolia is the only hydrangea native to the Americas. The leaves are oak-like --hence the name -- and turn beautiful colors of red, rust and burgundy in autumn. It flowers in summer, and the blossoms fade from white to pale pink.

Happy Thursday. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

The Hydrangeas did very well this year, although in general the heads are smaller probably due to the hot summer.

Now some have been dried and form a lovely dash of colour in the room.

Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words "hydro" or water, and "angeion," or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water.

A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.

Flower lovers will know that there is a flower language.

Every sentiment is expressed in one form or another by delicate blooms.

Of course, even the experts disagree on the "true meaning" of many flowers and most have different meanings to different people.

So, while all flowers convey thoughtfulness and love, a gift of flowers for a special someone will always create its own personal meaning, too.

HYDRANGEA - Thank You for Understanding.

Have a wonderful day and thank you for your comments with all my heart, M, (*_*)

Hydrangea from our courtyard in the early morning. Captured this when I left for work this morning.

It's that time of year when your garden comes alive. This is one of my first blooms from our Hydrangea bushes.

Last year we didn’t have any blooms on our hydrangea plants. This year they look to be making up for last year.

This is possibly a Hydrangea Arboreacent, or smooth hydrangea, wild hydrangea, sevenbark or even sometimes sheep hydrangea. Any clever flower people who come this way might like to confirm or otherwise!

By early, I mean early in their development.

We have a pretty large Hydrangea plant, but we aren't very good at getting it to flower. It looks like we'll have some this year, apparently pink ones -- hydrangeas also have blue flowers, sometimes both colors on the same plant. Taken after a rain.

You are invited to see a Gallery of photos of hydrangea flowers, by other people.

Thanks for looking! Isn't God a great artist?
