Hydrangeas are blooming now. This is one from my yard. I planted some to replace shrubs that were killed by the arctic blast of cold weather we had over the winter. A lovely woodland plant.

Let me present it to you, the summer solstice.

~The summer solstice, also called the estival solstice or midsummer, occurs when one of Earth's poles has its maximum tilt toward the Sun. On June 21, 2023, 10:57AM~

This will be a new addition to our garden this year. Still cold at night so for now I have it inside our house.

Hydrangea flowers are produced from early spring to late autumn; they grow in flowerheads (corymbs or panicles) most often at the ends of the stems. Typically the flowerheads contain two types of flowers: small non-showy flowers in the center or interior of the flowerhead, and large, showy flowers with large colorful sepals (tepals). These showy flowers are often extended in a ring, or to the exterior of the small flowers.

I love skeletonized flora.

I like hydrangea, especially the Hydrangea Macrophylla shown here. The colours are striking and are the natural colours without any additives added to the soil around to force unnatural change in appearance - I hate this practice!

This one is just starting to burst open with its explosion of intense, deep red. The white ones I have come out a little later.

This is how deep purple this is, no enhancement. Taken at my son's neighbor's garden. The color of hydrangeas is based on what soil is, an acid soil - blue and alkaline - pink. Of course, you'd see some in between.

I believe these to be dried hydrangea though I am not entirely sure. I came across the dried blooms atop brown stems sticking out of the snow in a local park.

Love this pastel colors of hydrangeas, however, depends on the soil you have, "Blue in acid soil; Pink in alkaline soil".

We have several Hydrangeas that we keep in pots year round,

Hydrangea

Hydrangea or Hortensia is a genus of 70–75 species of flowering plants native to southern and eastern Asia (China, Japan, Korea, the Himalayas, and Indonesia) and the Americas. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably China, Japan, and Korea. Most are shrubs 1 to 3 meters tall, but some are small trees.

Hydrangea flowers are produced from early spring to late autumn; they grow in flowerheads (corymbs or panicles) most often at the ends of the stems.

In most species the flowers are white, but in some species (notably H. macrophylla), can be blue, red, pink, light purple, or dark purple.

And this particular Hydrangea stands proud in our garden with beautiful sunset colours in the background.

This Hydrangea is in a flower pot and survives under the barbecue during the winter,

NO MULTIPLE INVITATIONS PLEASE Thank you!

Purple hydrangeas, halfway between pink and blue shades, generally symbolize a desire to understand someone on a deeper level. The color purple is also representative of wealth and abundance,
