I found this Hydrangea head blowing around on the road like a tumbleweed for TWO days in a row and it did NOT get run over by any of the zillions of cars up and down the road every day! When I found it safe and sound on the derelict property of the RBG on the THIRD day, I collected it and brought it home. I just had to save it and get some photos!
The warm sun of Summer is still stroking us occasionally, Autumn sneaked upon us, but it is here, the calendar tells me.
I look up, I look down, the leaves are turning, the leaves are falling, less and less flowers, drying up, discolouring...from green to yellow, from green to orange, from yellow to orange, from orange to red, they all end up brown and dead.
These Hydrangea, if cut at the right time will give you a Winter-long pleasure of colour!
Have a colourful day, and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)

Hydrandeas are one of my favourite shrubs,I love the colour of this one...
Thank you for the visits comment's & favourites my friends! Hope you have all had a lovely Christmas holiday...
Best viewed large..
The Hydrangeas did very well this year, although in general the heads are smaller probably due to the hot summer.
Now some have been dried and form a lovely dash of colour in the room.
Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words "hydro" or water, and "angeion," or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water.
A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.
Flower lovers will know that there is a flower language.
Every sentiment is expressed in one form or another by delicate blooms.
Of course, even the experts disagree on the "true meaning" of many flowers and most have different meanings to different people.
So, while all flowers convey thoughtfulness and love, a gift of flowers for a special someone will always create its own personal meaning, too.
HYDRANGEA - Thank You for Understanding.
Have a wonderful day and thank you for your comments with all my heart, M, (*_*)

The calendar says fall, but the temps say summer is hanging on, just like this last Hydrangea bloom. I took this on 9/22 and it is still in bloom today. HCS!
This beautiful blue lace cap hydrangea was at our gite in Saint-Mayeux, Cotes-d'Armor, Brittany. This was one of my favorites among hundreds of hydrangeas we saw in France, due to its true blue color and lace cap.
Have a great Wednesday! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

The name Hydrangea is taken from the Greek language, meaning ‘water vessel’, in reference to the shape of its seed capsules. This is the first time in four years that this plant has flowered, usually (along with three others) it’s been a wonderful display of green leaves. The last time they did bloom the flowers were blue, they’ve all been repotted and now the flowers are pink. I think I have this the right way round, the higher the acidity of the soil the flowers will be blue, the higher the alkaline content of the soil, the flowers produced will be pink. I was hoping for blue, but I’ve obviously got the wrong compost.
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
