Lacecap Hydrangea

Our Lacecap Hydrangea produces multiple blooms with large pink blossoms around a white center cluster that eventually turns into small blue blossoms. It seems to be liking our unusually warm weather.

Compositionally. Challenged Week 8 - Light Shines Through

Happy Bokeh Wednesday : )

Busy framing my new room, but when I let the dogs out after work today, the hydrangeas were abuzz with dozens of bees. The light was also pretty nice, so I made time to grab a few shots of these beautiful guys.

Thanks for looking! Isn't God a great artist?

When we got back from our trip our hydrangea bush was in full bloom. It has a pretty mix of colors, but the blues are my favorite, so I did a little sliding to make them all blue. HSS!

Hydrangea is a genus of more than 70 species of flowering plants native to Asia and the Americas. Hydrangea is also used as the common name for the genus; some (particularly H. macrophylla) are also often called hortensia. The genus was first described from Virginia in North America, but by far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably China, Korea, and Japan. Most are shrubs 1–3 m (3 ft 3 in – 9 ft 10 in) tall, but some are small trees, and others lianas reaching up to 30 m (100 ft) by climbing up trees. They can be either deciduous or evergreen, though the widely cultivated temperate species are all deciduous.

The flowers of many hydrangeas act as natural pH indicators, producing blue flowers when the soil is acidic and pink ones when the soil is alkaline.

Our pink hydrangeas never cease to amaze me. We live in a very peculiar and flower-unfriendly micro-climate where nothing wants to grow, yet they don't seem to care.

Hello there,

Most hydrangeas that I come across are white, so I couldn't help but notice this one at a local park. Edited with effects in Topaz Studio for Sliders Sunday. HSS!

Thank you so much for taking the time to look and for leaving me a comment. I do love hearing from you! Have a wonderful day!
