My large format final series. A commentary on nature/human interaction through diptychs.
Camera: 4x5 Toyo with 210mm lens.
Photo by Karthik Dwarakanath. A Red-tailed Hawk settling down next to a flock of blackbirds, without scaring them away, is in itself a pleasantly surprising event, but having a mother pointing this out to her son in the background made it an even better composition for me.

This young armadillo walked right up and started sniffing my boot. It didn’t seem the least bit bothered by my presence.
I photographed this moment in my yard in Arkansas. I stayed still, and the little armadillo kept exploring like I was just another part of the landscape.
It’s a juvenile Nine-Banded Armadillo, probably learning the world one scent at a time. Their strong sense of smell is key to finding food, but it also leads to some close and unexpected interactions like this.

"Before the Eid prayer after the fast of Ramadan, every adult Muslim who possesses food in excess of his needs and those of his family must pay Zakat al Fitr. If the person is a breadwinner, he should also pay Zakat al Fitr for his dependants such as his wife, children, dependent relatives or servants.
Zakat al Fitr can be paid a few days before the end of Ramadhan. It is preferable to pay it just before Eid prayer (first thing in the morning) so that the poor can enjoy the Eid."
as mention in www.islamic-relief.com/zakat/zakfitr.htm

Ditengah-tengah tugasnya mengatur pengunjung yang berjubel dan berdesakan, dia menyempatkan diri untuk tersenyum :)
BRAVO Pak Suyoto!
Photo by Brooke Miller. A hunter returning with his prize. This photo was taken just a few hundred yards from the parking lot at the Sunnyvale Water Pollution Control Plant Bay Trail head. Our Palo Alto Adult School Birding Class was just heading out on a field trip, as we passed this hunter walking the opposite way. I was the only one that turned around and saw what he was carrying. I took this one quick photo. It's startling to realize that hunting goes on so close to us, and, also notice the Bay Trail sign in the background!
