Jillian Geurts trained in musical theatre and performance with The Fame Theatre Company from 1995-2005. During this time she performed many lead roles in various productions and toured Queensland three times. In 2004, upon discovering Zen Zen Zo's unique brand of physical theatre, she participated in their Youth Physical Actor Training for two years. Jillian was a member of the award-winning St Rita's College Showchoir for three years (2003-05) and in 2005 she won the senior section on the Toombul Time to Shine talent competition. In 2006 she performed in Children of the Black Skirt (St Rita's College) and as the lead role of Dorothy Brock in 42 Street (St Rita's College).
In 2007, Jillian undertook a gap-year in Europe, after which she returned to study film at Queensland University of Technology. Throughout 2008 she continued her training in Zen Zen Zo's adult classes, as well as training and studying Butoh dance-theatre. She worked on the front-of-house team for Zen Zen Zo's In the Raw production Zeitgeist and in late 2008 was accepted into the company's 2009 Internship group.
In March 2009, Jillian worked with Butoh master's Muramatsu Takuya and Yuyama Daiichiro during a three week creative development, culminating in the sold-out performance Gaia - The Dairakudakan Project. From this, she was selected for cast of Zeitgeist touring to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2009 and Adelaide Fringe 2010.
She performed the role of Miranda in Zen Zen Zo's production The Tempest, as well as assisted with the documentary charting the show's creation. In August this year, she will tour to Edinburgh to perform in Zen Zen Zo's tour of Zeitgeist.

Gaslon is a slight reinterpretation and major expansion of a 1973 film type called Corvina Black, originally designed for VGC by A. Bihari. While the original typeface was popular in its own right, there were some things in it that were too quirky to work in the display applications it was intended for. Some of the letter combinations just didn't work to their visual optimum. For example the a and o were too similar, ditto the C and G, the E, F and J were too overwhelming to be set properly within certain display uses. Gaslon eliminates these problems by the inclusion of plenty of alternates for the vast majority of the original letters. In fact, the original a is itself now an alternate to a gorgeous new one. The Gaslon Alt font includes tremendous possibilities for both unicase use, and proper use in conjunction with the main font. This is our true homage to a typeface that had great potential more than three decades ago, but was overlooked by digitizers because of a few quirks it had in film type contexts. Full of curves and invitation, Gaslon ranks very high among the friendliest poster faces ever made. It is ideal for friendly store signs, children book covers, and plenty of other applications. In fact, if you're planning on contributing to a few protests around your neighborhood or city, you would probably be better off using Gaslon to help your sign/placard carry words and slogans that are big but friendly. Nothing beats "DOWN WITH GAS PRICES" set in a nice imaginative mix of the many Gaslon letters. The OpenType version of Gaslon is a single font that contains all the alternates and niceties programmed within features accessible by OT-friendly programs.

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.
We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

I bought new shoes today. Didn't take me long, except for finding the shop. I went into a bookstore close-by afterwards. When I got out, I tried some street photography just outside the bookstore.
I had to up the ISO to 400 to take this, hence the noise. She is a little out of focus but that was the best I could get with the autofocus. There's a dark spot on the lens that gets in the frame when I use the zoom, and it's getting really annoying. Cant' shake it off.
I watched The Social Network tonight at South Bank. Pretty good movie.

I hate it when it looks so good in lightroom, and something is lost when transfered to flickr, ahhhh. Anyways, lx-goods got with me to shoot their shot on Friday night, the guys from as the sky awaits just so happened to be playing, took some shots of them and they contacted me to shoot their show the following day at the melbourne jaycees. Constructed in 1897-98, the long-vacant Jamaica Savings Bank building "is a fine and particularly exuberant example of the classically inspired Beaux-Arts style strikingly executed in carved limestone and wrought iron, and is one of only a few buildings in the borough of Queens to embrace that architectural aesthetic. Prominently sited on Jamaica Avenue, the bank building is an urbane presence on the neighborhood’s main commercial thoroughfare. Although the four-story structure is relatively small in scale, the imposing design of the facade conveys a monumentality which is appropriately suited to the distinguished image and reputation of the banking institution, while lending the building the formal elegance of a private club or townhouse."
UPDATE (Oct. 2016): The old bank and its two neighbors to the right are being turned into a three-building retail complex. The 10-story tower that stood immediately to the right (visible above) has been knocked down and is being replaced by a structure similar in height to the bank building. Here's a rendering of the proposed development.

Based on Disney’s Academy Award-winning animated feature, the story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved in return, the spell will be broken and he will be transformed into his former self. But, if the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his staff will be doomed for all time.

Beim abendlichen Pokern am Montag räumte „Pato“ noch groß ab, danach aber weinte der Himmel. Es schüttete die ganze Nacht hindurch aus Kübeln, Gewitter und Sturm brausten über die türkische Südküste – kurz gesagt: Auch heute war an ein Match nicht zu denken. Selbst für ein normales Training war es zu nass. Die Plätze standen unter Wasser, die Tore lagen zum Teil umgekippt am Boden. Die einzige Möglichkeit für die Kicker war der gut ausgestattete Fitnessraum im Keller der Anlage. Bereits um 9 Uhr 15 bat Trainer „Bertl“ Schiener in die Kraftkammer, wo sich die Brunner an einer großen Anzahl an Geräten für die letzten beiden Tage in der Türkei fit hielten. Ob Laufband, Ergometer oder an den Kraftgeräten – die Kicker schwitzten für den nahenden Frühjahrsauftakt.
Bereits zu Mittag brach ein Großteil – warm bekleidet – zum Bazar nach Manavgat auf, eine weitere Gruppe mit „Messi“ & Co. folgte nach dem Mittagsmahl. Der verbliebene Rest verbrachte den freien Nachmittag im Hotel. Und erstmals blinzelte auch wieder leicht die Sonne durch die graue Wolkendecke, ehe es gegen Abend erneut zu schütten begann. Nach den verregneten beiden Tagen kann es aber jetzt eigentlich nur noch besser werden...
Am Abend folgte der zweite Bewerb der „Olympia-Battle“: Die beiden Teams wurden getrennt voneinander in den Meetingroom zur Brunner „Millionenshow“ gebeten, wo sie 11 Fragen zur Geschichte des SC Brunn im Teamwork beantworten mussten. Beide Teams fielen bei der achten Frage in Geographie durch und damit auf Frage fünf zurück, damit gab’s auch für beide Gruppen fünf Punkte für die Gesamtwertung. Den Bonuspunkt für die Zusatzfrage holte sich das „Team Hofecker“, da für das „Team Pratl“ der Telefonjoker „Herbert“ ausließ. Damit führt das „Team Hofecker“ mit einem Zähler Vorsprung.
Das Programm für die abschließenden zwei Tage sieht nun wie folgt aus: Am Mittwoch wird wieder zweimal trainiert, am Donnerstag gibt es am Vormittag das letzte Training, ehe am Nachmittag doch noch das Testspiel gegen Zöbern stattfinden soll. Die Platzmiete wurde nach Intervention des Reiseveranstalters in Österreich mittlerweile immerhin auf 100€ pro Team hinuntergeschraubt, dem Match sollte daher nichts mehr im Wege stehen.
Zum Abschluss des heutigen Dienstages gibt es noch einen Glückwunsch: Die SC Brunn-Familie gratuliert unserem Fotoblitz „Möhsi“ ganz herzlich zum Geburtstag.
Frank Salomon gratuliert: Der Fotoblitz wie man ihn kennt, zu sehn auf jedem Sport-Event! Der Mann hat alles fest in Griff, vor allem stets sein Objektiv! Der "Blitz" kommt vor dem Donner, daß weiß auch schon Madonna! Er zischt durch aller Herren (Damen) Länder, gerüstet mit Gerät und Ständer! Immer wieder, nicht zu knapp, drückt er dann auch einmal ab! Das Ergebnis lässt sich sehen, er läßt nie viel Zeit vergehen! Grad geknipst, online gestellt, sieht es dann die ganze Welt! Es können nur nicht alle Schätzen, die Dich durch's Universum hetzen. So sag ich heute vielen Dank, für Deine Freundschaft, Grüße Frank! Alles Gute Möhsi!!!!

OH and I really wanted our house to smell like fall and winter (hence the candle and incense purchases).
The cover pattern pays homage to the rice that I purchased on November 1st. The rice was white...not red, teal and peach.

Every copy of What Did You Buy Today comes with a button or a sticker or a postcard or whatever I happen to think would be awesome to give away that day. The covers are color laser printed onto cardstock and the guts are b&w photocopies. Oh and a plastic bag. It all comes in a fancy schmancy plastic bag. SWEET!
Each issue contains 30 or 31 or 28 or 29 (leap year) drawings.
