She was a beauty--a gold 45 goddess for sure! A Gold 45 Goddess exalts the archetypal form of Athena--the Greek Goddess of wisdom, warfare, strategy, heroic endeavour, handicrafts and reason. A Gold 45 Goddess guards the beauty of dx4/dt=ic and embodies 45SURF's motto "Virtus, Honoris, et Actio Pro Veritas, Amor, et Bellus, (Strength, Honor, and Action for Truth, Love, and Beauty," and she stands ready to inspire and guide you along your epic, heroic odyssey into art and mythology. It is Athena who descends to call Telemachus to Adventure in the first book of Homer's Odyssey--to man up, find news of his true father Odysseus, and rid his home of the false suitors, and too, it is Athena who descends in the first book of Homer's Iliad, to calm the Rage of Achilles who is about to draw his sword so as to slay his commander who just seized Achilles' prize, thusly robbing Achilles of his Honor--the higher prize Achilles fought for. And now Athena descends once again, assuming the form of a Gold 45 Goddess, to inspire you along your epic journey of heroic endeavour.

Title "Artsy Scrappy Mama" by Julie Ann Shahin

I decided my self-portrait would be a paper mache art doll because I didn't want to buy something, although I did look in a few stores. I wanted to actually make something and get my hands dirty, yet actually I wore "kitchen gloves" for the messy part! The wire mesh for the dress is no accident, I want you to see through it, to see the body has vintage sewing pattern tissue paper on it. I also wanted to attach items to the dress so this wire worked great, it is called "WireForm by Paragon" or "WireMesh by Paragon" depending on whether you want copper, brass, or aluminum diamond. Pam asked me what her name is, and I decided to name her "Artsy Scrappy Mama" because I wanted to show you a self-portrait of me in my studio, which is painted yellow, where I am happy and thriving.

The items on her dress include a cupcake charm (!!!), a handmade rose (tutorial coming soon), a deer brad because I see deer in my neighborhood all the time, a heart brad, an imagine charm for creativity and a nod to John Lennon, and a pin I saved from a trip to Toronto.

My technique: I wanted to use things that were on hand for paper mache. Make note of everything I recycled!

* The doll body was constructed from a toilet paper roll for the torso,

* and a wad of newspaper rolled into a ball for the head,

* taped together with masking tape.

* I used straws for the arms and legs,

* I punched a hole into the body for the legs and arms with my Crop-a-Dile

* Instead of using newspaper for paper mache, I used vintage music paper, vintage sewing patterns, and vintage book pages

* I made a 1-part flour to 1-part water mixture for the paper mache glue, and let each layer dry overnight

* The eyes and mouth were made on Claudine Hellmuth’s Sticky Back Canvas, cut out and applied

* The background behind her is also paper mache, made on a cardboard mailer. The newspaper article is about me, written several years ago, an interview I gave on hybrid scrapbooking when I was Creative Editor of Scrapbook Dimensions Magazine

* For her hair, I took 10 thin strips of fabric, tied a smaller strip of fabric around them at the top, then adhered one end at the crown of her head. I repeated this about 15 times. Then I tied various floral charms and beads to her hair.

Supplies: toilet paper roll, newspaper, masking tape, straws, vintage music paper (PERSONALITY), vintage sewing pattern(PERSONALITY), vintage book pages (FOUND at antique store), Claudine Hellmuth Sticky Back Canvas Paper, Hambly Transparency, pop dots, various fabric strips for hair, Prima flowers, fake eyelashes (FOUND in my cabinet), wire mesh (FOUND), ArtGirlz cupcake/imagine/feet charms (PERSONALITY); Art Matters Pin I saved from Toronto Museum (FOUND & PERSONALITY); chandelier crystal from flea market (FOUND); feather; brads; twist-ties (FOUND); Hard Rock Cafe stir stick (broke stick off) (PERSONALITY), binder clip (FOUND), chair, misc charms and beads, newspaper article (PERSONALITY)

Tools used: Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch; GlimmerMist by Tattered Angels Mist and Screens; Punchella; Acrylic Paints; Stickles glitter glue; Copic marker; oil pastels; water, flour, gloves Please see the forum for further tutorials on my paper mache art doll!

HISTORICAL NOTE: datestone to right at base of tower

inscribed, 'The Lady Mary Lygon Mayoress opened this building

October 1 1896 The Rt Hon Earl Beauchamp Mayor.'

During the C18 Foregate Street was known as 'the mall' and

Tymbs' Worcester Guide of 1802 notes, 'the Foregate Street

itself, by being well paved and sufficiently broad to admit a

full circulation of air seems to be generally resorted to as a

fashionable promenade.'

Pevsner: describes this as 'a resourceful and animated,

totally asymmetrical composition in a mixed Tudor and Baroque

style'. Simpson and Allen had, earlier in the decade, won the

competition for the Glasgow Art Gallery and Museum. This is an

outstanding example of late C19 municipal architecture of this

type, in its eclectic use of style redolent of the municipal

libraries of H.T. Hare, such as Wolverhampton (1902).

The Shire Hall, Statue of Queen Victoria, City Museum and

Library, and Nos 15, 19, 22, 23, 24, 28, Nos 33-46

(consecutive) and No.49, Foregate Street (qqv) form a

significant group. The City Museum and Library also forms a

complimentary group with Worcester College, Sansome Walk (qv).

The Rt. Hon. Earl Beauchamp Mayor

I've been tagged by Janet www.flickr.com/photos/10389614@N07/3816845751/ and I'm finally getting to it on a three day weekend.

It's an interesting task to itemize yourself like this - I tended to want to qualify everything - but here I am - unqualified. : )

1. When I was in my teens and twenties, music was like food and drink to me - as necessary and constant - but in my thirties, when I had kids, all I craved was silence - so vast swaths of 80s and 90s popular music are unknown to me.

2. I'm an atheist and comfortable with that. I try not to be self-righteous.

3. I value kindness and generous hearted, good humored people. Life's too short to be a mean spirited jerk.

4. I'm a librarian and love to read. (Duh) Here are some books I've loved:

The Things They Carried by Tim O' Brien

High Fidelity by Nick Hornby

Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison

Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace

Dave Barry's Book of Bad Songs

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro

Saturday by Ian McEwan

Stormy Weather by Paulette Jiles

Lullabies for Little Criminals by Heather O'Neil

The Shock Doctrine by Naomi Klein

Let The Great World Spin by Column McCann

Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell

5. I was featured in a medical textbook when I was 14. It wasn't for my high IQ :)

6. I've been a vegetarian since my 20s but sometimes wonder if that's self indulgent in a world with so much human misery.

7. I love to laugh. That sounds fatuous but I REALLY love to laugh the kind of laugh when you're falling all over someone to keep yourself from falling down, your stomach muscles hurt, you're trying not to pee your pants or snort through your nose and you feel like you've run a marathon when you're finally done. Except you keep thinking about what set you off and start laughing again. I love that.

8. These were some of my life goals when I was in my 20s. I guess I wasn't enormously ambitious!

1. Travel

2. Have a girl before I was 30

3. Work with kids

4. Marry a man with curly hair who cooked

5. Move to Vermont or California

6. Live abroad

AND .........................here's the breakdown

1. Yes, until my mid twenties but a lot less than I wanted.

2. Nope - 4 boys - all different all wonderful

3. Yes, I taught for years.

4. Yep, no more curly hair but he's still cooking!

5. Vermont

6. Yep, lived in Ireland

9. I don't get - I mean I REALLY don't get couples who vote different parties. It's like - how could you live with someone with a totally different world view???? I know that people do and successfully and I'm not meaning to sound intolerant - I just don't understand how it works.

10. I was involved with a very radical educational philosophy for years (Sudbury Valley Model) I still think it's the only educational model worthy of the label "paradigm shift."

11. What the hell. I'll do an extra one. I'm Left Left Left all the way but the left can still drive me crazy. I'm also (this should be 12 probably) part of a weekly peace vigil that meets every Friday and has done since before the invasion of Iraq. War is not the answer.

CAMP HUMPHREYS — Summer vacation has come to a close and Humphreys American School (HAS) welcomed children back here on Monday morning, Aug. 27.

All elementary and middle school students with their parents were welcomed by HAS Principal Joyce Diggs and Colonel Darin S. Conkright, United States Army Garrison Humphreys Commander, at the bell-ringing ceremony. This traditional gathering is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and their families to formally usher in the year and welcome new members of Camp Humphreys community to the campus.

“The ringing of the school year brings the whole school together and starts the new (school) year in a good cheerful way. That is the way in which we welcome each other,” said Elena Johnson, the school librarian.

In his speech, Conkright emphasized the importance of reading and physical fitness for students.

“Anytime you can read and you have chance to, do it. It is much more fun than watching TV,” he said. “If you do those things, everything else in life is easy, I promise,” he added.

At the end of the brief ceremony children, parents and teachers yelled out ‘Yeah’ while HAS principal and the Garrison Commander rang the bell which represents the official opening of the new school year.

After the ceremony, students proceeded to their classrooms and got the opportunity to get to know their new classmates and teachers. They also got introduced to teacher’s rules, regulations and expectations.

“During the first day there a lot of administrative things that need to be done. But once we get through that we get right into educational components. I think it was wonderful that we had a sunny day and our garrison commander came and rang our school year for us. I think it was wonderful way to bring the school and the community together,” said Carlon Munroe, the elementary school teacher.

“The school provides great support and I believe kids are excited to be here. They are eager to learn and it is great. It is the best we can expect.”

From dudleyfarm.com/history/, "The Dudley Farm was built in 1845 by Erastus Dudley, a prosperous North Guilford farmer, gristmill and tannery owner. Today, the house, barns and surrounding ten picturesque acres occupy a portion of the land farmed by the Dudley family for almost 300 years."

Originally one storey in height, the watch house was Balmain’s first police lock-up. As Balmain grew rapidly, the need for local police and cells to detain short term prisoners increased.

In 1854 the Balmain Watch House was built. Well known colonial architect, Edmund Blackett, Architect of the University of Sydney, and his clerk of works, James Charles White were involved in the construction. The Watch House was threatened with demolition in the mid 1960s. Its poor condition was the catalyst for the formation of the Balmain Association, who have subsequently undertaken repair and restoration works to the building

Christian Family Movie Trailer | Jesus Christ Is My Lord | "Red Re Education at Home"

Zheng Yi is a Christian. When he heard about the CCP government's brutal persecution of Eastern Lightning and the arrest of Christians during his work in the United States, he pondered, "The CCP is an atheist party, a satanic regime that resists God most. Under the frenzied persecution and suppression by the CCP, Eastern Lightning has still become increasingly prosperous. It most likely is the true way." So he examined Eastern Lightning on the website of The Church of Almighty God. He discovered that Almighty God's word is the truth and the voice of God. He determined that Almighty God is the return of the Lord Jesus. So he readily accepted the work of Almighty God in the last days. Four years later, Zheng Yi returned to China and passed on the work of Almighty God in the last days to his sister, Zheng Rui, a news reporter.

Zheng Yi's father, Zheng Weiguo, is the minister of the United Front Work Department in a city of China. When he learned that his children had believed in Almighty God, he strongly opposed it and repeatedly used the rumors and fallacies of the CCP government to stop them from believing in God. On many occasions, Zheng Yi and his sister debated with their father. This spiritual war of the family ultimately ended with the truth triumphing over fallacy and the fact over rumor! Fearful of the CCP's evil power and determined to keep his official position and livelihood, Zheng Weiguo stubbornly took side with the CCP and compelled his children to give up their belief in Almighty God but to no avail. He finally expelled them from their home …

Zheng Yi and his sister resolutely chose to leave their family and follow Christ to preach and witness God's appearance and work in the last days.

BOOM VISION

Boom is not only a festival, it is a state of mind. Inspired by the principles of Oneness, Peace, Creativity, Sustainability, Transcendence, Alternative Culture, Active Participation, Evolution and Love, it is a space where people from all over the world can converge to experience an alternative reality.

Boom is a festival dedicated to the Free Spirits from all over the world. It is the gathering of the global psychedelic tribe and of whoever feels the call to join in the celebrations!! Boom is a weeklong unpredictable and unforgettable adventure. It takes place, every two years, during August Full Moon, on the shores of a magnificent lake in the sunny Portuguese inland and every one is invited!

BOOM IS A MODEL OF ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS

An environmentally conscious event is a way to offer a concrete example that it is possible to live on this Planet in respect of Mother Earth and of one another. This is possible through a deep understanding of the cycles of life and humanity’s place within these cycles. Permaculture is a brilliant example of how such understanding can be turned into practice.

Boom’s pioneering Environmental Program applies the principles of Permaculture to every single aspect of the Festival production. Moreover Boom widely promotes knowledge and practices of sustainability through lectures, workshops and… practical example!

100% compost toilets (still to this day the only large event in the world to reach this result!); 100% on-site water treatment facilities, off-the-grid energy solutions, bio-construction, permaculture gardens, vegetable oil for the generators… these are just a few of the ground breaking projects that have granted Boom the most prestigious international prizes in environmental efficiency.

For further details please visit the environmental program page.

BOOM BELIEVES IN A BORDERLESS WORLD

Since its beginning in 1997, Boom is the home of the global nomadic tribe. Since then, it has grown organically by word of mouth into an incredibly culturally diverse festival, attracting people from 116 nationalities (2012). Boom is the celebration of the Earth’s multicolored Oneness. EVERY ONE is invited and EVERY ONE is called to consciously co-create a positive reality of Love and Peace, for us and for the next generations. We Are One!

BOOM BELIEVES IN TRANSCENDENCE THROUGH MUSIC

At Boom music is sacred. The dancefloors are temples where to transcend ordinary states of perception and the limitations of our egos. Through dance and music, we can reconnect to our own individual divine essence, while in synch with the beating heart of the whole tribe. All in One!

Scattered across four stages, music at Boom is as diverse as it gets: electronic, acoustic, classic, any style is welcome and represented in a different area, live concerts, djs sets, solo artists, bands… Boom started as a psytrance festival and has developed into an inclusive gathering, unveiling the surprising diversity of quality underground soundscapes.

Psytrance culture remains one of the inspiring sources of Boom's vision and intention. And Boom remains as a testimony of the evolutionary potentials of such a culture.

Check the pages of the single areas for details on the different visions.

BOOM ACTIVATES TRANSFORMATION

Boom’s ultimate aim is to facilitate individual and collective transformation. The Boom experience has been conceived to activate the vital force directing every being towards the fulfillment of its highest potential. To reach this ambitious goal, Boom relies on the continuous exchange of radically innovative knowledge and practices by countless Boomers, musicians, artists, teachers, visionaries, healers, farmers, ecologists, wisdom keepers, researchers, scientists, activists

Besides the music stages and the countless art installations scattered all over the site, the other areas where Boom channels transformation are the Liminal Village, the Healing Area and the Visionary Art Museum. Here our hearts, bodies and minds can receive a full download of information through workshops, presentations, rituals and meditations Check the single areas’ pages for more details.

NO TO CORPORATE SPONSORS, CORPORATE LOGOS AND VIPs, YES TO INDEPENDENCE, SOLIDARITY AND CREATIVITY!!!

Boom is an autonomous zone of cognitive liberty and therefore is and will always be free from corporate sponsorship and logos. Boom is funded by the financial support of the thousands of people that buy the tickets and come to the festival.

Boom does not believe in VIP areas and special treatments, since every Boomer is a VIP! Boom adheres to the principle of ’thinking outside the box’, for the co-creation of novel ways of viewing reality and acting for its evolutionary unfolding.

BOOM-VISION

NATUR

PSYCHEDELISCHES KUNSTMUSEUM

Was ist psychedelische Kunst, was visionäre?

FLEXIBLE EINTRITTSPREISE
