I like having HDTV and standard def TV on the same remote to channel surf through both. Not like there's much worth watching on basic cable and OTA HD, but still better than 2 remotes.
diy htpc in the living room on a 42" lcd hdtv.
I have three cam widgets, the one that cycles images from local cams sits on the bottom right and is maximized in this shot. Over on the left bottom are the other two (top has views of home (albuquerque) and lower has fave cams around the world).
I use Object Dock, Rainmeter, Stickies, and Yahoo Widgets on my desktop - the cam widgets are Yahoo, don't remembr the name but it's awesome because you can have multiple independent re-sizable and highly customizable instances.
Anyway, a handful of people I know on twitter are watching the super bowl and I couldn't make it but it's cool to see via Greg's (@1prdpgn's) cam.

This is my Home Theater PC (aka HTPC). It consists of an Asus P5QC motherboard, an Intel E8400 processor, a Zalman 7700 copper heatsink/fan, 2 GB of Kingston Hyper-X DDR2 1066, a somewhat outdated nVidia 7900GS video card, an Audigy 2 sound card, an Antec 480Bluepower power supply, Sony DVDRW, and a 500 GB Samsung Spinpoint drive.
It also has a Happauge HVR-1600 TV card, a Windows Media infared keyboard and remote control, and a Logitech web cam.
It's running Windows 7 and using Windows Media Center.
This is my main gaming PC.
It consists of a Q9650 processor (overclocked to 3.6), an Asus Maximus Formula motherboard, 4GB of Corsair Dominator DDR2 (at 1200), OCZ Vendetta 2 heat pip cpu cooler, EVGA 9800GTX 1GB video card, Corsair 750 power supply, Creative X-Fi Titanium Pro sound card, a seagate 7200.12 1TB hard drive, 3 Samsung SH-223 DVD/RW drives and an Antec 900.2 case.
The case has a 230mm fan on top, two 120 mm fans in front and a 120 mm fan on the rear. All are variable speed and are lit by blue LEDs.
It is currently running Windows 7 Ultimate.

- Home theater PC
- Office work
- Light gaming
- Downloading :)
With Windows 7 Ultimate installed, the power up time is ~30 seconds.
The Windows Experience Index is as follows (the scale goes from 1.0 to 7.9):
Processor: 6.9
Memory (RAM): 7.4
Graphics: 6.7
Gaming graphics: 6.7
Primary hard disk: 7.4
Base score: 6.7 (determined by lowest subscore)
The parts list:
Intel Core i3 2120T (2.6GHZ) (2nd gen Sandy Bridge)

I chose this CPU because I think it has the best balance of computing power (2 cores, 4 threads), consuming power (with a TDP of just 35W) and price.

The CPU's stock cooler didn't work properly, so I had to buy this one. It's more powerful, more quiet and more reliable than Intel's.

This was the smaller case I could find with enough space for CPU+cooler and a decent PSU. I could install one 5.4" drive, one 3.5" hard disc and two 2.5" hard discs if I wanted to :D I chose to install just the 2.5" HDs, the optical drive isn't necessary anymore (one can install everything from a single USB flash drive!), and since this isn't being used as a HTPC for now, a big capacity 3.5" HD wasn't needed either.

The room itself. I was worried the hardwood floors would distort the sound, but I can't detect anything. The in-wall speakers are great for the surrounds.
Except for the TV and computer, this room could be an add for Costco. It's all their furniture.
So there is what makes everything work. 2 Series3' (doesn't everyone have two?) a Samsung Blu-ray player, my HTPC taht needs some love, a HDHomeRun (which you can't see) and my video storm matrix switch that connects everything up, yes with component.

The inside of my 2009 Mac mini taken while upgrading from 1GB to 4GB. The 2009s look a little meaner on the inside, their internals (logic board, heatsinks, etc) are now black instead of blue. Nice little touch that most folks won't really see.

This is COMPLETELY done in photoshop--not a working desktop yet. I add to LDST group to ask for ideas on what to add next.
This desktop is for a HTPC that users don't interact with. I'd put it on a big plasma and stash the keyboard in my room. Just leave it on during a party or something. Other people aren't going to care about my hard drives, temperatures, gmail, or dock icons.
May need to completely redo the concept. Right now it's perfect for 1920x1200, but the most practical screen would be a 1080p, and so keeping the modularity I need to refit the boxes.
I've chosen to use "Folding Clock" Widget for the flip clock since a) it's already done b) it has animation c) it has seams d) looks better than my 30-second attempt to replicate one.
Will probably use Marxio Timer to set up time-based scripts (probably running Yahoo pipes) to pull images, get new recipes + sports scores.
New feature: Will try to set up Apache + ml to access Winamp's remote control ability so any iPhone can use Safari as a remote.
New feature: Using Enigma's todo functionality to post useful static information to partygoers such as phone# to call to get a taxi, "tonight's playlist available on MP3DVD for $1", etc.
