An Alpha Male Coyote Portrait. The Coyote , Canis latrans, runs with it's tail down, unlike domestic dogs with their tail up or wolves with their tail straight. Known as the best runner among the canids, the Coyote cruises at 25-30 mph (40-50km/h), with a top speed of 40 mph (65 km/h). Always an opportunist, Coyotes eat small mammals like mice, squirrels and rabbits, as well as birds, frogs, toads snakes, insects and fruit.

Wiley and Maya chatting it up...northern lights wolf center.

The mad Ukranian who is doing some woodworking and carving in our under-construction barn has been coming up with some Native American inspired motifs to carve in the beams of the living area. I asked him to do a motif of a howling wolf and he came up with this penciled sketch which looks marvelously like a dancing terrier. Very appropriate for us!

www.howlingwoods.org/takoda.html

Takoda is a mix of grey wolf and eastern timber wolf. He was born April 15, 2004 and weighs about 95 lbs. He is gentle, friendly and loves head scratches. He just loves to meet everyone. In Cherokee, his name means 'Friend to All'.

Like our other canines, his diet consists of raw chicken, deer, eggs, organ meats and other raw foods.

The portrayal of beautiful women as objects of worship is deeply ingrained in Western culture. This contemporary oil painting takes the issue head on. This woman is a kind of Venus figure who is worshipped simply for her beauty. She arises from the cauldron of desire to fly over the howling wolf. She taunts the wolf and the viewer with her unattainable beauty.

A portrait of an adult female eastern Coyote in spring. The Coyote , Canis latrans, runs with it's tail down, unlike domestic dogs with their tail up or wolves with their tail straight. "The wildlife and its habitat cannot speak, so we must and we will."

This painting " Howling forest " emphasizes the deep relation between the wild animals and the forest. Artist Karan Nandaniya painted the wolf soaked in the forest in his howl. The painting has the attractive color combinations. The blue night of the forest, black shadow of trees and the big white howling wolf is so mesmerizing on the canvas.
