Looking through the pics taken after this it seems my macro lens is in need of a clean....its covered in lots of little bits of soot....ooops!!
So, this is my effort for Week 3 of my Project 52!
This week I've shot something that I've been meaning to try for a long time! I was spurred on by one of my Project 52 groups, whose theme this week is liquid!
I was quite pleased with the results, especially the hot steam rising from the cup, which I hadn't anticipated!
The only problem I had with this shoot was that I had to make another cup to drink after I'd finished, as this one was all over the kitchen worktops! :)
No sé ustedes, pero yo con este calor, ya ni enciendo el calefón para bañarme...

Currently, Colombia has hot weather because of "El Niño". I took this spider from outside and I gave her a fresh home. I used a Nikon Teleconverter. Taken in Bogotá, Colombia.

A match just after ignition, it took me about 20 matches to get a few good shots.
Match on lightstand, camera on tripod, first focused on match head, switched to manual focus afterwards, match was lit using another match a few centimeters below, in this shot I used my reaction time to snap, in the shots afterwards I benifitted from the high speed drive of the Canon 60D to get 5.6frames a second.

Frank is having a bad day. Jabba wanted to try his famous hot dogs so Frank was asked to bring his stand to the Palace but Jabba ate all the available hot dogs right away. Then the crowd became cranky while Frank quickly heated up more dogs.
Thanks to JoshuaDV for the inspiration! The hot dog stand didn't fit in the Sail Barge but it did fit in the palace :-)

Sitting looking at the flexible tube of my desk lamp got me thinking - always a dangerous thing! Five minutes later I was lighting a candle underneath it to produce some smoke .... I then illuminated the smoke with an off camera flash and here's the result..... A totally pointless image..... but so much fun :o)
I like the way the smoke follows the curve of the pipe which makes it look like it is coming out of the pipe.
This was bit like water drop photography, you have an idea but you never quite know how the smoke is going to flow so it's 10% idea, 10% technique and 80% luck!!
The city was shut down Friday with a "massive" Texas snowstorm. Up to half an inch of snow fell, paralyzing the city for most of Friday. Frank the Hot Dog Vendor, wasn't sure if he should set up his hot dog stand during the big Snowpocalypse but he's glad he did. Several brave minifigures ventured out for hot dogs and hot chocolate, despite the dangerous icy conditions :-)
Yes, it's true. Austin shut down for less than half an inch of snow :-)
This group of Ladybirds had been hibernating in my shed, and on Saturday when I was doing some gardening for the first time this year as the weather picked up they decided it was warm enough to get up and leave.
This one guy/girl is eager to get out of there.

I've just spotted that this is on Explore so I'd best tell you a little about it - I've been a bit busy uploading lots of pictures and haven't caught up with all of my comments and stuff yet.
Anyway this is from a dragon hunt at Rixton Clay Pits. As the name would suggest it's a former clay pits area serving a local brickworks. The clay has been exhausted and the area allowed to return to nature. The local authority stepped in and turned it into a nature reserve - and full marks to them as it is now teeming with wildlife, including a very healthy population of photographers who can regularly be seen stalking their prey on small game hunts.
Techie stuff: shot with a Panasonic GH2, 45 -200 lens with a Raynox 150 macro lens attachment bunged on the front.
