A butterfly gardeners delight. this variety of the passion vine is a host plant for the gulf fritillary butterfly, zebra longwing, variegated fritillary and the julia. The flowers are lightly fragrant and provide a nice purple pop of color in the garden. The zebras gulfs are starting to show up daily. I'm looking for the Julia, hope they show up soon.
Ashkum hosts A407 as the train rolls into the siding to let Q194 pass by. The slog freight is pretty late today, and will be even later as they receive new instructions that they do in fact have work to do at Otto shortly, and they can’t occupy the main to do it. I called this the end of my chase for the day, but naturally, I’ll be back again before long...

Magnolia City Hosts Heartwarming Friendsgiving Celebration
Magnolia City, Nov. 21 – The spirit of gratitude and camaraderie filled the air this past week as Magnolia City residents gathered for an unforgettable Friendsgiving celebration. The event brought together neighbors and friends to share not only delicious food and drinks but also heartfelt reflections on what makes Magnolia so special.
The cozy affair featured a lavish spread of classic holiday favorites, decadent desserts, and signature drinks that kept spirits high. Between bites of turkey and pumpkin pie, attendees took turns sharing what they were most thankful for, from the supportive community to the lively events that make Magnolia a unique haven in the Second Life landscape.
"I’m so grateful for the friendships I’ve made here," shared one attendee. "Magnolia is more than a city; it’s a family.”
The evening wasn’t just about food and gratitude, though. Trivia games had the crowd buzzing with excitement, as teams competed for bragging rights in categories ranging from food to various other topics. Other games kept the laughter rolling, reminding everyone of the joy that comes from gathering together.
As the evening wound down, attendees left with full hearts and even fuller stomachs, already looking forward to the next community event. Friendsgiving in Magnolia City was a testament to the power of coming together, celebrating what truly matters: friendship, joy, and gratitude.

Från kronogård till utarrenderad egendom
Även från 1600-talet finns uppgifter om skatt som betalades i form av mjöl och ål. Ålgård var en kronogård (ägd av staten) fram till 1689. Då donerades gården till kronobefallningsmannen (kronofogde) Johan Seth, som också bodde där något år. Gården förblev i släktens ägo till 1827.
Därefter kom en period med många ägarbyten, ibland bolag med flera ägare, ibland enstaka eller enskild ägare. Fåtal ägare har själva varit mjölnare. De som ägde fastigheten fick som regel en viss procentdel av intäkterna från kvarn, såg och ålfiske. Periodvis har ytterligare en arrendator eller en dräng tagit hand om djur och jordbruk.
Den ursprungliga kvarnen låg vid Grindsbyvattnets naturliga utlopp. Vattennivån i Grindsbyvattnet reglerades genom ett dämme fäst i berghällarna en liten bit nedströms. Järnbultarna från de gamla dammluckorna finns fortfarande kvar alldeles under den lilla träbro som byggts över vattnet.
