The lighthouse on Hook Head, Co Wexford is reputed to be the world's oldest, and among the most beautiful I've seen. Conditions were promising on the evening we were there, and I wanted to make use of the rock pools to compose an image such as this. For a long time, the sun resolutely refused to come out to play, but for a few glorious minutes burst through a gap in the clouds bathing the lighthouse in a fabulous warm evening light

the hook is as old as the art of fishing and often they were made of so many different materials,i saw a pictur ages ago of one found in scandinavia and preserved in a museum, the original was fashioned from walruss ivory, this one i made as a copy of the original but from beef bone.

East Hampton’s Hook Mill was constructed in 1806 and remained operational until 1907.

I got my hook from Etsy and some Monk's cloth from the fabric store and 2 wool coats to cut up. So at least I'm making progress. I had to return the book to the library though.

My family taught on Indian Reservations in Idaho, Oklahoma, Arizona and New Mexico from 1890-1910. These photos were taken by my gr-gr-uncle at a reservation I believe in New Mexico about 1900. If I'm right on location he was most probably of the Apache tribe. How sad what the whites did to the native population of this country. Look at his poor feet.

An example of the cubicle hooks I make for my co-workers for Christmas 2006 to hold our stockings. They've been retasked to many other uses.

Made from 3/8" square stock mild steel, and can hold more weight than the cubicle wall.

I was hoping to get the quintessential "hook 'em" photo at the game. A couple of people in front of me get their horns up while the video screen in the background shows the same.

The church of the Good Shepherd at Hook Common is a fairly modest building, opened in 1870 and built to the designs of G.R.Clarke to serve as a chapel of ease for nearby Upton on Severn. The unassuming exterior gives little away, sitting quietly in its roadside setting and would be easily overlooked.

Inside the architecture is equally modest and pleasantly simple, but the finest features here are in the glass, three Arts & Crafts windows in the nave, beginning with the fine west window by Henry Payne along with another made as a collaboration with his son Edward and the last by his pupil Florence Camm.

Happily the church is normally kept open for visitors and is a delightfully peaceful place.
