Hooks on a piece of construction equipment in WV.

White Ibis standing on a swan feeder, Lake Morton, Lakeland, Florida. I think he was trying to figure out how to open the hook and eye to get some food using his hook and eye. ; )

Fishing hooks are small but very important for anglers.

I chatted with a fisherman for a while. He hadn't caught anything that day. He then tried it with fresh liver... obviously there are no piranhas in the river... otherwise the liver would have been gone quickly and probably the fishing rod too.😄

SMALL & IMPORTANT is the topic for TUESday 25th January 2022, Group Our Daily Challenge

We still have picture rails in our home and at one time had a few of these hooks though as we don't generally use the rails for hanging pictures I could only find one when it came to taking my photo for MM.

The hook measures 2" at the widest point.

The 800-year-old lighthouse is the oldest operational lighthouse in the world, build by Knight William Marshal. A coal fire beacon was first used to guide ships.

Macro Mondays - Hook

You could almost call this one: “the dance of the hooks”

Happy MM to everyone, tell me what you think...

We have a natural harbor called Ediz Hook in our town.

Sadly people will take kittens out on the peninsula and dump them off. There is no food or fresh water (other than oil soaked mud puddles) for them.

Eagles and some seagulls will also pick them off when they are little kittens.

As they grow up they also have to deal with the pecking order of the other cats out there. There are around 30 cats at any given time.

There are some devoted people who go out, rain or shine and feed and give them water. Many have built huts or houses for them, but vandals will go out and destroy them.

There is a group of local vets that have tried to capture and "fix" them, but if they are older, they will return them to the hook. As they are wild / feral after a week or so

The one white one in this picture was in a litter of 4 kittens that were dumped. We tried for about 3 weeks to capture them. They were beautiful kittens and we had found homes for all.

Glad to see one still alive out there. They tend to have a short life. Hard to believe people can do this to them.

My old toolbox 65+ years old.

(96/366) Before we'd heard the news that our house sale here had fallen through we'd already arranged a trip to Wexford so I could visit the cottage we're buying. As it was too short notice to cancel the hotel without losing the full amount due (and our son had booked 2 days off work to be our dog-sitter) we decided to be positive & go anyway. I'm so glad we did as the weather was fabulous. Luckily I loved the cottage! The owner is in no desperate rush to move out so if it takes a little while to find a new buyer here it might not be too much of an issue.

After we viewed the cottage we explored more of the local area & drove down the Hook peninsula for the first time. It's just 20 minutes away from our potential new home! Sin of sins I'd forgotten to pack my camera but my iPhone did a pretty good job of capturing Hook Lighthouse. The present structure is about 800 years old and is the oldest intact operational Lighthouse in the world.

Not the best angle for sure, but this pic shows a barge preparing to hook up with another tugboat to help guide it through the old rail swing bridge in Clinton, IA. Clinton is a location for a large ADM processing plant, making it a prime location for barge, rail, and truck traffic. There are several other grain terminals in this area of the Mississippi, including terminals in nearby Fulton and Albany,IL.

These crochet hooks help me make toys for our parrots. I've been playing with this photo for a while and feel it's ready to be released as a slider. I hope all are having a super Sunday!

The hook as it is often called is a popular spot in South County Wexford. It was very windy when I was there and I could not get out onto rocks safely so stood well back and aimed for a break in the spray to get a shot.

The lighthouse is situated where the 3 sister rivers, Barrow, Nore and Suir flow into the sea so it was be choppy and windy.

A dawn scene from 5am this morning at the Hook Lighthouse. We made an early start to get over to the Hook for the Solstice sunrise and it was just beautiful.
