Ta Da! The door prep and painting took 3 days in the basement and the installation took less than an hour. The only error was with the strike plate for the new handle but I was able to fix that. After installation I noticed that all the doors in the hallway had their handles mounted higher than standard. What is it with this house?

Project 365 A Photo a Day...

Had the oven resurfaced. Amazing and eco-friendly!!

We had two cables (one network and one coax for tv) running out of the laundry room for a long time, and they crossed the doorways of two rooms which (a) looked tacky and (b) were a tripping hazard.

I finally decided to fix it, and ran a conduit from the laundry room to the closet of the far room, then ran the coax through the wall of the closet to the tv; and ran the network cable out of the closet to a switch. No more tripping over cables, and no more packing tape on the floor! Woo-hoo!

And yes that's a wireless router... but I like to have a hardwired connection for my desktops for faster file transfers between them.

Part of me doesn't want to put the crappy furniture back in.

Take a look at the old wallpaper. It's really a shame that they painted over this. It's very historical. February 2007.

In progress room divider between dining and sleeping areas.

Handle less Kitchen Doors is just not pleasing to the eye , it can also gives your existing kitchen the appearance of a clean, uncluttered and timeless look.

Every time I do a home-improvement project, I'm reminded why having a shitload of tools makes every project easier. These are the things I used to screw some shelves down onto some shelf-brackets. It's a long story.

Addition in the outbuilding

The day after we had put the grout down we noticed that one of the tiles had a almost unnoticeable rocking to it. Despite being small movement it was enough to crack the grout. Darn.

So we pulled up the tile and did what we could to level it out or shim the tile flat.

We're extending our porch by about 6 feet x 12 feet. We're doing this so that we can have an outdoor fireplace (look behind that red shovel). Rusty gazes upon our project in his customary back yard position. For some reason he really loves to sit with his hindquarters higher than his front paws.

Rewire and final fix complete so bedroom stripped!

Somehow the overgrowth got away from me and I finally noticed we could no longer see the house! It started when I paid the handiman to paint the shutters, and later realized I couldn't see them. I wish I could have done more with the tree guy today, but it's a start and I can enjoy my favorite maple once again!

I am not the handiest guy around when it comes to home improvement, but I decided to take a shot at installing some landscape lighting at Casa Heretic.

Not bad, if I do say so myself.

Before photo

I have NEVER liked these floors!!! Replacing them has always been on our to do list, but we just were never in agreement on what to replace them with. A friend of mine whose husband is a woodworker gave us a suggestion and the varnish and WOW what a differenece it made in the playroom. This is a project that I got to do!!! I still do not like the floor BUT with the varnish and wax it makes them look 100% better.

Woot!

Special awesome thank you shout out to Bob Margulis at Ravenworks Green. He is the MAN. I love my kitchen, and it's almost all thanks to Bob. (Shane did the floors & the vent hood.)

I won't go into the adventure that D had installing this structure - needless to say, it was not as simple a task as one might expect. We really like the results.

The biggest plus is that our hanging space no longer drags the ground. It cost us a little space at the top of the closet.

I'm a little embarrassed by how much space I take up in the closet. Oops!

(The organizer isn't lopsided, just the photographer.)

My first project of this kind has been a success. Much storage added to the kitchen.

das wird mal meine küche. lange dauerts nicht mehr!!!

Dry wall has been installed.

We have this ridiculous old concrete slab in our side yard -- it's where the old landing for a stairway used to be (this has been moved since the house was renovated).

Anyway, it's a huge tripping hazard in the dark and when I try to move trash cans in and out. I figure it's time to remove it. I rented a demolition hammer from Home Depot and went to work. That thing is FUN.

The wallpaper we stripped last week revealed bare concrete walls with plenty of imperfections, so we decided to wallpaper over them ourselves. Sure, they're both a shade of blue, but I think our new color is way more fun!
