The wallpaper we stripped last week revealed bare concrete walls with plenty of imperfections, so we decided to wallpaper over them ourselves. Sure, they're both a shade of blue, but I think our new color is way more fun!
Same as previous, just viewed from outside around dusk. The fans were replaced the next day with new outdoor-rated ones from Lowe's.
This pic was taken about halfway through the day on a Sunday. The previous day we had painted from 2pm until about 6 or 7 with a roller paint brush designed for flat surfaced walls. Well, problem was that our walls are slightly textured which meant more work for me. Luckily we got the right brushes b4 we started in on the living room, but I was still spent
We have this ridiculous old concrete slab in our side yard -- it's where the old landing for a stairway used to be (this has been moved since the house was renovated).
Anyway, it's a huge tripping hazard in the dark and when I try to move trash cans in and out. I figure it's time to remove it. I rented a demolition hammer from Home Depot and went to work. That thing is FUN.

The mastic has been trowelled on and the tiles have been set into place; they're solid but need a day to fully dry. Those TV shows always make it seem like everything's ready from bare surface to totally ready for use in 30 minutes to 2 days but that's just not how tiling actually works! (When was the last time you saw someone on HGTV grouting? About 1/10th of the number of times you've seen someone tiling, I bet, but that process happened every time.) Confession: I haven't chosen a grout color yet. *shrug* I have three mostly-full containers of powdered grout on the kitchen table -- silverado, charcoal grey, and warm grey -- from other projects yet none of them really fit/match this tile color! :-D
This was taken a couple minutes after I pulled out the spacers. It doesn't look that different from yesterday's test layout but unlike then them tiles ain't goin' nowhere, ever again.
The goal color. I gave it about a 7 minute set time, and wiped it twice--once with bag o' rag paper towels and once with an old towel.
When removing the big fluorescent trough light from my kitchen ceiling, I encountered this fifteen foot long piece of aluminum flashing that was meant to keep the blown fiberglas insulation off the top of the fixture.
And in the sunlight, it's actually flashing me.
After the second/third sanding pass. Since we are painting the risers white, I'm not as worried about getting _everything_ off of them.
Hello gorgeous granite. It took the installers about 2 1/2 hours to rip out the old counters and put in the new ones (along with the sink). Of course, I get to install the new faucet & drains.
Mr. Pin was removing wallpaper from the previous homeowners in the basement pottery studio. He uncovered this painting on the wall between layers. It looks like Alfred E. Neuman. Weird.

One of only two stores (other one in Mt Gambier) still open for trade as the other two in Noarlunga & Parafield have not yet opened, despite the buildings being completed.
Following the Receivers' Sale, the ill-fated joint venture between Woolworths & American owned Lowes has started closing all its Masters stores throughout Australia & New Zealand.
