All the young dogs love to jump all over Ky and play fight with him, we think it's because Ky is such a softy that they know they can completely trust him. As soon as they see Ky they come running to him so they can play. Ky actually loves it! crazy dog that he is.
“Let him keep careful watch over his thoughts. Let him observe their intensity, their periods of decline and follow them as they rise and fall. Let him note well the complexity of his thoughts, their periodicity, the demons which cause them, with the order of their succession and the nature of their associations.”

He says, whenever you are plagued by distractions, “try to look over their shoulders, as it were, searching for something else—and that something is God, enclosed in the cloud of unknowing.”

I can't blame him for being so baffled at seeing such a stupid homo sapiens sapiens (although for the animal I was no doubt homo neanderthalensis) climbing up what was a rather steep slope. Usually you realize how steep it is only when you go down and see it "in front of you"... :-) :-( :-) For them it's a piece of cake to walk in such terrain, for me it isn't.

Milwaukee Road eastbound "Morning Hiawatha" heads south after backing down from a detour on the C&NW, resulting from a Milwaukee Road wreck at Caledonia. The detour was on C&NW's "New Line" Subdivision, that crossed above the Milwaukee about a mile behind me, and this train had backed down from that route on the "dump track" behind the pilot of the lead unit; now the Hi could resume its normal routing into Chicago. This move was controlled by the operator in Tower A-20 behind me. It appears that the op backed him through the crossover onto the northward main before proceeding south on the usual southward main. Possibly the dispatcher wanted to keep clear signals as far as possible - to Tower A-20 - for a southward commuter train that would follow the Hi down into Duh Big City.

He stood at the edge of the dock, the boards beneath him damp with mist and memory. The sea stretched out like a forgotten canvas, gray and endless, swallowing the horizon. Somewhere beyond the fog, a sailboat drifted-silent, untethered, like the promises he’d made and failed to keep. The lighthouse blinked slowly, a pulse in the distance, steady and patient, as if it had been waiting for him to look up. He hadn’t come for the view. He’d come to face the silence.
He used to have a compass-not in his hand, but in his heart. A sense of who he was, what he stood for, how to love without faltering. But somewhere along the way, he’d lost it. Not in a single moment, but in a thousand small ones: missed chances, careless words, the slow erosion of integrity. He hadn’t just lost his way. He’d failed to live up to the man he swore he’d be. And in doing so, he’d failed her-the one person who saw him clearly, who believed in him even when he didn’t.
The wind tugged at his coat, as if urging him to turn back, but the dock was the last place he remembered feeling honest. He came here hoping the sea might forgive him, might carry his apology across the waves. And then, through the fog, the sailboat shifted-its sail catching a sliver of light. The lighthouse blinked again, brighter this time. Not a warning, but a welcome. A way forward. A whisper: You’re not beyond redemption.
And in that moment, something stirred. Not absolution, but the possibility of it. A warmth in the chest, a quiet resolve. Maybe he couldn’t undo the past, but he could choose the next step. He took a breath, deep and briny, and stepped forward-not away from the shadows, but into them. Because sometimes, the light finds you not when you deserve it, but when you’re finally ready to earn it.
“When Jesus appeared before the procurator, Pilate asked Him: "Are you the King of the Jews?" To which Jesus replied: “Yes, it is I. But you said it yourself."
And when the chief priests and elders began to accuse Jesus before Pilate, He did not say a word.
Then Pilate asked Him again: "Don't You hear all these accusations against You?".
But Jesus did not answer any of the accusations. And this greatly surprised Pilate."
It is interesting that the fresco was not called "Pilate's Trial", but "Bringing the Lord to Trial". Jesus is depicted standing before Pilate in a long white rag, over which is thrown a scarlet royal cloak - the garment in which Herod, who was judging him, mockingly dressed him before returning him to Pilate's trial. Below this fresco, in a medallion, is depicted the event of the same day preceding the arrest - "The Kiss of Judas", where Jesus is in a green cloak. Jesus was tried several times that day, and the title of the fresco "Bringing the Lord to Trial" without indicating Pilate's name is involuntarily misleading.

The stone sculptures in Sno, a small village in the Kazbegi region of Georgia, are part of a remarkable art project in the Caucasus. These sculptures consist of impressive stone artworks depicting giant faces, often with a melancholic or mysterious expression. They were created by local artist Merab Piranishvili, who is renowned for his unique ability to bring faces and emotions to life in natural stone. Working primarily with local stones, he carves expressive facial features that tell stories about life, the soul, and the deep connection with nature. The sculptures symbolize the ancient wisdom of the mountain dwellers and the spirit of the past. The faces sometimes appear sad or contemplative, reflecting both the challenges and the beauty of life in the Caucasus. Fully integrated into the surrounding landscape, the sculptures stand among the mountains, hills, and rugged grasslands, blending seamlessly with their natural environment. This is what makes Piranishvili’s work so unique: he respects the natural shapes of the stones and subtly adds human characteristics without compromising their raw, natural beauty. Piranishvili often works directly in the field, selecting local stones and carving them with a hammer and chisel. He carefully considers the natural form of each stone, adapting his designs to create a result that looks organic and harmonizes with the surrounding environment.
Sno is located near the breathtaking Stepantsminda area and the imposing Mount Kazbegi. The stone sculptures are a hidden gem in this region, attracting an increasing number of art enthusiasts and travelers. The site exudes a serene, almost meditative atmosphere—perfect for those seeking something unique off the beaten path. If you ever find yourself near Kazbegi, these sculptures are well worth a visit. They offer a truly unique experience where art and nature come together in perfect harmony.
My little white terrier sotted this little guy on the siding of the house. I've only seen one toad smaller than this little frog. He was quit patient with me getting close to him.
He looks at her like he’s gazing intensely into her eyes
He looks at her like he senses her pain
He looks at her appreciatively
He looks at her like she’s the most beautiful thing he has ever seen
He looks at her like no one ever has
He looks at her compassionately
He looks at her like there’s no tomorrow
He looks at her and finally says the words she has been waiting for with all his heart
He says “I love you…”
She looks at him and says “Do you mean it?”
He replies “Yes… I do…”
He kisses her on her forehead and says “Forever… I promise…”
He made her the happiest girl alive and made her smile like never before…
He made her smile a smile of happiness… a smile of hope…
He smiled back a smile of love… a smile of promise… a smile of * forever *
<3!!!!
him and her *always & forever*

Spent a great weekend in Salzburg, Austria together with my family. Also visited my friend Kurt and we had great fun on Sunday morning! It was a real pleasure chasing the first sun of the day through beautiful Salzburg with him. We also took some pictures... :)
Well, he spotted me long before I spotted him and ofcourse very wary of this person disturbing his peace!
There are six kingfisher species in Costa Rica, 5 residents and one migratory. Among these the resident Green Kingfisher is the second smallest with about 20cm length. This makes him slightly larger than the Eurasian Kingfisher. At the Nature Reserve, we found three Kingfisher species - the Green, the Ringed and the Amazon Kingfisher, but two more - the super-small American Pygmy Kingfisher and the migratory Belted Kingfisher have been reported there in the past too.
My cool colleague (Derek) happily obliged me, by sitting down in the chair, for me with this composed shot!
Which is taken from within the many wondeful art rooms around the LTB.
Sorry, the comments are disabled and many thanks for your appreciated favours!
That charming bathing Yellow Hammer. I think this is my fave shot of him. I mean, look at that face and how he is paddling! Straight from camera. Not edited at all.
