All Love Can Be - James Horner

…una mente brillante
.
...piove a dirotto e
in una via deserta si sente
d'un carro lo scricchiolio,
degli zoccoli lo scalpitio
in mezzo al triste mondo.
Abbandonato, un bambino
piange dietro una bara,
pallido il viso, occhi nel vuoto
chiede conforto alla nebbia
che stretto lo avvolge là…
dove la pupilla incerta
è in cerca d’una madre
del suo bacio, dell’ultimo abbraccio
ma oramai… tutto ha perso.
E’ solo coi suoi stracci addosso
lerci e inzuppati di pioggia
rimane la sua memoria
più santa e la più cara.
…sarai per sempre
il figlio di una donna muta.
Alza gli occhi al triste cielo
una figura intravede,…che
una silenziosa parola eleva,
sarai,….una mente brillante
e il suo ricordo lo conforta.
Gli dirà con placida fermezza;
con la gelosa e veggente tenerezza
avrò per lei sempre parole dolci
era un angelo, era la sua mamma.

…a beatiful mind
.
... it rains heavily and
you hear a deserted street
the creaking of a cart,
the trampling of the hooves
in the middle of the sad world.
Abandoned, a child
cries behind a coffin,
face pale, eyes blank
asks comfort from the fog
how tightly it wraps it there ...
where his pupil is uncertain
is looking for a mother
of her kiss, the last hug
but now ... everything has lost.
He is alone with his rags on
filthy and drenched in rain
his memory remains
holiest and most expensive.
…you will be forever
the son of a dumb woman.
He rolls his eyes to the sad sky
a figure glimpses,… that
a silent word elevates,
you will be, …a beatiful mind
and the memory of him comforts him.
He will tell him with placid firmness;
with jealous and visionary tenderness
I will always have sweet words for her
she was an angel, she was his mother.

"Did you see him", said a voice as a couple passed me on a walk along the beach? Odd how behaviour changes when others see you carrying a camera and lens. Suddenly their willing to communicate and let you know of something they saw, you may have missed.
"Thank you, yes I did", was my reply as they quickly walked away. A Heron was perched at just the right place for my longer lens to capture this wonder of nature. He sat stoically, while the tides gently rolled in, and the clouds lay heavily overhead.
“I found him carefully studying me, his lips in a thin line.
“Has anyone ever taken care of you?” he asked quietly.
“No.”
I’d long since stopped feeling sorry for myself about it.”

I can't blame him for being so baffled at seeing such a stupid homo sapiens sapiens (although for the animal I was no doubt homo neanderthalensis) climbing up what was a rather steep slope. Usually you realize how steep it is only when you go down and see it "in front of you"... :-) :-( :-) For them it's a piece of cake to walk in such terrain, for me it isn't.
Found him/her? in the Limpopo Province bushveld, South Africa; the biggest jumping spider I've encountered, about 11mm across.
“Let him keep careful watch over his thoughts. Let him observe their intensity, their periods of decline and follow them as they rise and fall. Let him note well the complexity of his thoughts, their periodicity, the demons which cause them, with the order of their succession and the nature of their associations.”
-Evagrius, The Praktikos, chap. 50, in The Praktikos and Chapters on Prayer, trans. J. Bamberger (Kalamazoo, MI: Cistercian Publications, 1981), 29-30
He says, whenever you are plagued by distractions, “try to look over their shoulders, as it were, searching for something else—and that something is God, enclosed in the cloud of unknowing.”

Here is the story she wrote for this :
Three days. The hunt lasted three entire days. It was a personal matter for her, he would not escape this time. When she started to look for him, she first heard rumors spreading about « this charming nobleman with a damned smile » that just rented the biggest mansion in the smallest village the farthest away from his last home. She knew immediately it was HIM. Finding him was easier than she thought, she just had to follow the words on the streets, the tittle-tattle of Ladies swooning and blushing and the praise of Gentlemans vowing about his good reputation and his manners after only a few hours with this man. He was a master of disguise, his sweet talk could make you do anything that he chose to and his stare alone could force any last bit of resistance out of you. No one unprepared stood a chance against him, he had that power, a dark one and he was using it to play with people, making them puppets in his private theatre
But she would not be fooled like them, not again, she knew too good now who she was after and that the next time that they would meet eachother, one of them would not see the light of the day again. When she finally caught up with him he was sweet-talking a blond-haired girl in the streets, drawing the contours of her face with his satin gloved finger and the Lady was having a hard time keeping her composure. He had that effect on you, making you a weak creature between his hands. The day was about to end but it was still too early, and, for the lucky innoncent girl, people were still roaming the streets. He was well aware of that so he decided to return home and just wait for the night to fall completely, to help cover his steps as well as his sins before coming back for her, later. He took a last look at her appetizing throat and left. At the end of the street, he turned around the corner, proceeding to walk back to the mansion with no idea he was being followed by a retributive shadow this time. When he entered the deep and dark woods in front of the propriety, the pitter-patter of the civilized word vanished completely and all was calm around him. That's when she decided to stop the hunt. No more prey and predator, no more hiding and lurking.... only Him and Her, reunited once again. She stepped out in front of him in the pale moonlight, revealing herself to his gaze, and simply said to that smirking bastard « - Darling, smile for me one last time ! » while aiming at him

Jasper gives one of his toys a malicious glare - the evil eye! 52 Weeks for Dogs "Eyes" challenge.
To make this shot, i put Jasper against a black backdrop, turned out the lights and shined a flashlight on his face. Then I gave him the "look evil" command that every puppy is taught along with "sit" and "down"
I stopped by Wright-Locke Farm today to take some photos, and saw Buddy's silhouette when looking into the barn. He also saw me, and came running out, meowing. I didn't have any treats for him, but had lots of pats to give.

However, the remaining load—the already heavy scooter, the cargo bound to it, and the flatbed handcart hitched to the rear—was more than he could lift on his own. Once again, a passing food-delivery rider stepped in to help, raising the entire pile back upright and enabling him to climb onto the scooter and ride it back to the roadside. (To be continued.)

Otis is standing in the midst of pieces from Sally's and my collection of china made for restaurants around 1930's - 1960's; we started collecting in the 1980's when pieces could be found in thrift stores for fifteen cents. The beach glass on the window sill brings back fond memories of time on California beaches, and the other shells are from trips to Sanibel Island (Florida).
Of course Otis, himself, and the cat-feeding station behind him, represent what we love most in our home.
This guy was right in the muddle of the road so did not to get to close and disturb him, but when I did I could see it was a Rabbit.

According to a legend taken up by several authors, the history of this castle is told as follows:
"It is below and on the southwest flank of the old medieval fort of Autoire, that a man named Lafon had his home.
To reward his bravery on the battlefields of Italy, King Charles VIII would have rewarded him by making him a Knight and thus giving him the privilege of having a home with towers and machicolations which was a right attached to the nobility.
The new Chevalier Lafon would then have added simple towers to his home and engraved on a lintel of one of them the coat of arms he had chosen for himself, a star, perhaps the one that brings luck. "
The house is built around a spiral staircase tower, housed in the corner uniting the 2 main buildings. The main door, at the bottom of the tower, is adorned with a toric arch carved in an accolade, characteristic of the ornamentation prized in the last quarter of the 15th century and the beginning of the 16th century.
In the upper part of the tower, which leads to the staircase leading to the five levels of living, is grafted a corbelled lookout surmounted by a pepperbox roof which made it possible to reach the room on the top floor.
The second tower is more imposing: armed with gunboats, it participated in the defense of the building whose top was crowned with machicolations, but nothing remains of this device. The two main buildings were altered in the 17th and 19th centuries, when windows were drilled on the site of old stone windows.
The tower has been listed as a historic monument since April 6, 1929.
The stripes may mark him as the prisoner, yet the weight rests on her shoulders. His smoke drifts free into the night, while she sits bound by silence. On the steps of the Cathedral, the roles of captive and keeper quietly reverse. Shot in Cologne, Germany with a Leica M11 Mono and Summilux 50mm.

Last night Richard an I engaged in one of our hour-long phone conversations in which we exchanged insights on life and art. He has survived his first encounter with COVID, and it motivated him to try painting digitally. His results have been phenomenal. I create this piece in honor of his fine character and his extraordinary artwork. We also discussed some upcoming changes to the PANO-Vision group which we hope will rejuvenate interest in it. Thanks, Richard, for all that you do.

I found him in an alley when he was a tiny kitten. He and two other kittens were in a carrier. Someone put the carrier there, opened the little door on the carrier and left them sitting there. How could anyone just abandon them, like that? We kept this one and found good homes for the other two kittens.
They came into the house, and saw the young child with Mary, his mother, and falling down on their faces they gave him worship: and from their store they gave him offerings of gold, perfume, and spices." Matthew 2:10 & 11

Here in rural Ontario we not only get black flies at the onset of spring along with mosquitos right through until fall but, we also get deer flies. They are a stupid insect as they land on you and before they can take a bite you have time to swat them. If they do happen to get a bite well, they take chunks out of you.
This fella was seen here on my little compost pail in the kitchen this morning and as it is macro Monday well, he was fair game for me. I managed to get quite a number of "portraits" of him before I took him on the lid and sent him packing out the door.
I may not always get to thank you for every fave or reply to a comment that you might leave here on my image but, just know each comment is read and very much appreciated.
