This juvenile Burrowing Owl gave me the evil eye when I photographed him. I wasn’t that close but he didn’t want to be photographed that early morning on Marco Island.
I have a grandcat and a granddog and even a cat nephew. But I have no cute face shots of my grands that were taken by me, and I'm pretty sure my sister will be posting a photo of my feline nephew. So here is Rufus, my Connecticut neighbor's cat. We called him "the philosopher cat" because he would sit on his porch for hours staring in one direction, seemingly contemplating life on Alewife Cove. He's been gone for several years now, but I still think about him often. And he looks a lot like my grandcat! ^-^
This species provides an example of sex role reversal with the females being more brightly coloured than the males. Females will also choose a male and then defend him against other females and when the chicks have arrived, the female scarpers and the male raises them on his own.

Tomb of Luís de Camões in Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (Monastery of St. Hieronymus) in Belem, Lisbon.
Camões is considered to be Portugal's greatest poet. He is to the Portuguese language what Shakespeare is to English and Pushkin to Russian. He led an interesting life spanning most of the Portuguese Age of Discovery in the XVI c., became famous in his lifetime, and died of plague in dire poverty. There is a strong indication that bones interred in his grave do not, in fact, belong to him. And the magnificent tomb was made only in late XIX c.

Photographié au parc de la Garenne, dont la vocation est de recueillir et soigner les animaux blessés et de les soigner avant de les relâcher.
J'ignore si les 3 loups qui y vivent retrouveront la liberté, vu l'étrange politique concernant les loups menée par la Suisse ! (on favorise leur réintroduction, mais dès qu'ils tuent quelques moutons, on les élimine sans état d'âme. Il faudrait peut-être les inciter à devenir végétariens ⁉️)
Mais dans ce nouveau parc, entièrement repensé et nettement agrandi, les animaux semblent être à l'aise, surtout les loups qui bénéficient d'un vaste espace.
Cela dit, je suis contre l'idée de mettre des animaux en cage, d'une façon générale, sauf si le but en est la préservation de l'espèce.

You'll know by now we 'love' our raptors., and spend a lot of time chasing them around.,
Doing all of this we have got to notice the variations in colour and even facial features from one bird to another
Even in the avian world., some birds are just better looking than others & this one could easily get a job as a part-time model!

I met this cute pup on Saturday to take his photos. This gorgeous Portuguese Cattle Dog, Ruckus is up for adoption at www.speakingofdogs.com
He has a heart condition and last I heard, there were no applications filled out for him.
He is just 7 months old, a fun rambunctious pup. His foster mom is lovely but I hope this beautiful boy finds his forever home soon.
My Bob has had a rough week... last Thursday we had to rush him to the emergency vet because he was staining to make.... he was yowling all over the house, staining while he was walking.... the vet said his bladder was full and he had a blockage.... after flushing him out in both areas, we took him home... a few days and he still acted strange... constantly going in and out of the box and nothing... but then he did make and what a relief...
On Monday I took him to our vet and she did a lot of tests, even a urine culture.... thank goodness his levels are not bad and he's acting like his old self.... he is 17 years old!
She put him on an antibiotic for a week and I'm hoping that will also help him feel better.
It's so scary and heartbreaking when you know they don't feel well and they can't tell you what is wrong...
Thank God he is doing better... so we want to wish everyone a Happy Caturday and enjoy the rest of the weekend!!

I planted several milkweed bushes a couple of weeks ago to help Monarchs on their migration. To my delight, I've seen several stopping by. This one was shy, and every time I approached, he retreated. He appeared to watch me from a tree, waiting for me to leave him in peace. So I did.....

For you who don't know what this is about and why I suddenly take a picture of a theme unknown of me: Matt is a highly gifted action figure photographer. One day he posted a flower. I dared him to post two more for if he does, I will try my hand on action figure photography. Well, he posted two (and) more flower shots! So...

A proper pirate walks into a bar wearing his pirate hat, eye patch, old guns by his hip, and of course also a hook. The barmaid asks him.....
What the hell happened to you? why do you have a hook? The pirate replies, Ah well it's just one of these war stories, you know ... lost my hand in a fight.
Wow! And how did you get the eye patch?
Oh, that's because a seagull sh*t in my eye there once.

Fynn has many hiding spots and it's often difficult to get hold of him when he has to take his medicine and doesn't want to. When I took this photo he was just hiding from the neighbour's dogs though, not because he was afraid but because he was waiting for he best moment for a big show which would drive them crazy. It always works.

Ever since I was a small child I loved this little bird and dreamed that some day I would see him. Up until that point I only saw it on the cover of a book. My first glimpse of one was in Connecticut many years later and I stopped the car to take in his beauty !! He is small but packed with gorgeous colors. Last week I was able to capture an image in Central Florida . Needless to say I was thrilled .
