I once was an instrument rated (hobby) pilot. Recently found this (only) photo of my last plane, N1212V, a V-tail Beechcraft Bonanza. It was later fitted with tip tanks to extend its range and performance. I stopped flying following an unrelated eye issue. A really nice aircraft. Tremendously enjoyable pass-time. Began pursuing photography following my flying days.

This is what $136,000. will get you ………

The “package” is not only “show”. Gone is the 2.4 liter VTEC 4-cylinder and 4-speed automatic trans. Snug as a bug in a rug, now sits a 2.0-liter VTEC turbocharged engine producing 306 hp @ 6,500 rpm and 295 lb-ft of torque at from 2,500 to 4,500 rpm. A 6-speed high performance “DIY” manual tranny now selects the gears, providing my left leg and my right arm with some exercise, albeit, with very, very little effort.

The engine features a die cast aluminum block with cast iron cylinder sleeves; the cylinder walls are plateau honed to minimize friction. The head is a pressure-cast aluminum alloy; exhaust ports are cast directly into the head, thereby eliminating the need for a conventional exhaust manifold (and the associated mass). There is a lightweight forged-steel crankshaft with mircopolished journals and forged steel connecting rods. The pistons have cavity-shaped crowns for improved combustion and a low-friction molybdenum coating is applied in a dot pattern onto the outer skirts of the aluminum pistons. The piston rings are ion-plated.

Hondas have long had a solid pride of place within the grassroots racing community (yes, and the professional ranks, as well, one being my favorite F1 racer, Nigel Mansell who in the 1980's drove for Williams-Honda).

So this week at SEMA Honda announced that the Type R engine is being made as a crate engine through the Honda Performance Development’s (HPD) Honda Racing Line program.

The engine—code named K20C1—will cost $6,519.87 (delivery not included).

Solo fast jet flying came from two of the best display in Europe. The Turkish Air Force F-16C Fighting Falcon solo display, otherwise known as "SoloTurk" is one of the finest of the European F-16 displays. Not only to the aircraft, including the spare this year, sport quite amazing paint schemes, but the Turkish pilots clearly have a great flair for display flying.

The Soloturk aircraft are embellished with a myriad of symbols, all in a palette of black, silver and gold. During the display, the crowds were able to catch a glimpse of the crescent and the star which can be seen under the aircraft during flight, the golden colouring symbolizing the loyalty and value attributed by the Turkish Air Force to the national flag. The team of 13 showed off the capability of the Turkish Air Force’s high-performance F16 aircraft.
