ABU DHABI: JEBEL HAFEET TOP VIEW:
Jebel Hafeet is a 1249 meter high mountain and the 2nd highest in UAE. It’s part of the Hajar Mountains and marks the border between Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
It offers breathtaking views of Rub ‘al-Khali, the largest sand desert in the world, and the city of Al Ain, one of the most underrated cities in the UAE (I’ll post pics of the city soon).
The Jebel Hafeet is also very famous for its mountain road that allows you to get to the top, where there are several viewpoints.

It was about a few hundred thousand years ago when Pico (the highest cone in the photo) erupted from the bottom of the ocean and created Fogo. Since then, it got back to life quite a few times.
In the first months of 1995 the elders of Chã das Caldeiras – the village extending through the volcano’s crater - became to feel uneasy. It had been windy for 11 days straight and occasional shakes of the earth beneath them grunted warnings that something was about to happen. On a day in which musicians from Santiago had climbed the volcano to make a video, the first fissure opened free. Soon, toxic gases began to spew, stones propelled several thousand meters high and incandescent pieces the size of cashew nuts started falling in Chã. It was time to run down to Mosteiros, the nearest village by the sea.
The population of Chã das Caldeiras stayed in refuge for six months. After that, contradicting government’s orders, they returned home where they now grow coffee, apples, vineyards and make excellent Manicon, the only wine produced in the whole of Cape Verde’s islands.

This is the first time I take a picture of Cagliari from the plane...it's a bit strange considering that I admired this view so many times during the years spent "abroad". And the most curioous thing of all is that my feeling in front of this view, this time that I was coming from Strasbourg, has been so different from all other times...Simply, I didn't feel the same emotion when landing again in Sardinia. That's a pity, and I really can't say why.
This is the highest elevation that I achieved on my hike, 1140 feet above the Adams Falls at the Evergreen parking lot. Midway Crevasse is located in Ricketts Glen State Park in the middle of the Highland Trail. This trail connects the two sides of the Falls trail. That trail was voted the best hiking trail in Pennsylvania by Backpacker Magazine. Two branches of Kitchen Creek cut through the deep gorges of Ganoga Glen and Glen Leigh creating 25 waterfalls and unite at "Waters Meet"; then flow through Ricketts Glen.

The Highest Apple (Runrig)
At present
All you were is with me
My eyes closed, my memory confident
Standing here watching
Each hill and shoreline
With the seed you left
Still growing
The garden is well stocked
With mighty trees
With fruit growing for the whole world
Ripe, sweet
And bitter apples
And the one apple
That is beyond reach
The winds will blow
And the sun will shine
From generation to generation
Through the trees of the garden
But the day and the hour
Will surely come
To take the highest apple
From the knowledge tree
Who amongst us
Can exist a single day
Beyond our own time and our own limits
Countless and futile
Are times I've climbed
To reach and taste
The forbidden fruit
The winds will blow
And the sun will shine
From generation to generation
Through the trees of the garden
But the day and the hour
Will surely come
To take the highest apple
From the knowledge tree
Behind that curve is the highest motorable road (claimed) man has made - The Khardung La (La Ladhaki for pass) at 5359 meters above see level.

This is a picture from my hike up the 14,269 foot Mt. Antero which is the 10th highest peak in Colorado. This mountain has actually reached a level of fame due to it being used as the setting for the Weather Channel’s “Prospectors” reality TV show. The mountain has a long history of being home to many rare gems and crystals that has made a few prospectors over the years quite rich. However, the name of the mountain has nothing to do with gems and instead everything to do with the area’s Native-American past. The mountain is named after Chief Antero of the Uintah band of Utes that once roamed much of Colorado and now call reservations in southwestern Colorado and Utah home. The trail of the mountain is actually a long four-wheel drive road that people with rugged off road vehicles can take to 13,800 feet. If you are like me who likes to hike up mountains then you are looking at a long 16 mile round-trip hike to the summit of the mountain.
