Mt Elbert is the highest summit in the Rocky Mountain Chain of North America, 14,440'. In the lower 48 only Mt Whitney is higher. In Alaska there are numerous mighty peaks that surpass Elbert and Whitney in elevation.

Britton Hill is the highest natural point in the state of Florida with a summit elevation of 345 feet above mean sea level. Britton Hill is the lowest state highpoint in the United States, 103 feet lower than the second-lowest U.S. state highpoint, Ebright Azimuth in Delaware, and far lower than many skyscrapers in Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando. In comparison, Miami's Panorama Tower skyscraper reaches to 861 feet above mean sea level.
The hill is located in northern Walton County near the locality of Lakewood just off County Road 285, about 2 miles southeast of Florala, Alabama. It is inside Lakewood Park, which marks the high point and features a monument, trails, and an information board.
The hill is named after and in honor of the Britton family and former early 1900s lumber mill baron William Henry Britton. The family gifted the land after Hazel Slaughter Britton's death in 1976.

Babusar Pass or Babusar Top (el. 4173 m./13,691 ft.) is a mountain pass at the north of the 150 km. (93 miles) long Kaghan Valley connecting it via the Thak Nala with Chilas on the Karakoram Highway (KKH). It is the highest point in the Kaghan Valley.
Gilgit Baltistan is the northern most territory of Pakistan and a region of dispute between India and Pakistan. It borders the territory of Azad Kashmir to the south, the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the west, the Wakhan Corridor of Afghanistan to the north, the Xinjiang autonomous region of China to the east and northeast and Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir to the southeast.
Gilgit–Baltistan is a semi-autonomous self-governing region that was established as a single administrative unit in 1970, formed by the amalgamation of the Gilgit Agency, the Baltistan region and the former princely states of Hunza and Nagar. It covers an area of 72,971 km² (28,174 mi²) and is highly mountainous. It has an estimated population approaching 1,000,000. Its capital city is Gilgit (population 216,760).

Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England at 978 metres (3,209 ft). It is located in Lake District National Park, in Cumbria. It is part of the Southern Fells.
It is sometimes confused with the neighbouring Sca Fell, to which it is connected by the col of Mickledore. The name Pikes of Sca Fell was originally applied collectively to the peaks now known as Scafell Pike, Ill Crag and Broad Crag, which were considered subsidiary tops of Scafell (which looks higher from many angles). The contraction Scafell Pike originated as an error on an Ordnance Survey map, but is now standard.
Stok Kangri is the highest easiest trekking peak of Ladakh: 6157 meters.
Each summer, about 1000 trekkers and alpinist scale it, because there is no technical difficulties, but the height.

Another trip to the farm
Hello everyone.
I decided to arrange another field trip to my parents farm at Braughing Friars and what a day we picked for it! The day had been hot and sultry and with highs of around 35 degrees!! summer seemed to have certainly peaked and a new highest temperature had been recorded of 36.5c, the highest for 11 years.
As the evening neared the weather was still a muggy 28 degrees at aroung 8pm and although the sky was clear we did have some patchy cloud at times and apart from the full moon the evening couldn't ger any better.
High winds were an issue during the day but luckily by dusk the wind had dropped right down.
I was joined by Colin, Roger and Paul and we ran 6 traps and one sheet that we would attend through the course of the evening/
The moths were fast coming to the lights, it seemed that as soon as the switches were flicked on moths had known what was going on.
It seemed a slow start, espcially for the Macros which seemed to suffer initially and it certainly was a night for the Micro moth recorder as we were simply inundated by them, feverishly wielding pots to try and capture the prize specimens.
The there was the Crane-flies and Beetles, my god I have never seen so many Ground Beetles before in one area, they were swarming all over us more so than the moths!
Th guys left at about 1am and I decided to leave my 4 traps running until dawn, topped the genny up and got some much needed kip for a few hours then up at 4am ready to see what else had turned up.
There was plenty and a lot more species were added.
Best moths of the night were a huge influx of 9 Red-necked Footman, and 3 new moths for my all-time list Aethes beatricella, Aethes tesserana and Carpatolechia fugitivella.
Numbers below are approximate.

Washington's highest peak, the volcanic cone of Mount Rainier, reaches a height of 4392 m (14,410 feet). A view from Ocean Shores, 184 km (115 miles) away, looking across the water of Grays Harbor. At this distance, because of the earth's curvature, only the upper part of the mountain can be seen.

The highest point in Minnesota--2301 feet above sea level.
A 3.5 mile trail leads through the Superior National Forest & Boundary Waters Wilderness to the summit. I made it to the top in 1 hour, 15 minutes.
This Safeway store is in Leadville North, Colorado. At 10,000 feet elevation, it is, I think, the highest chain supermarket store in the country.
D26682vs. Worm's Head on The Gower in South Wales is an off shore headland, connected to the mainland by a rocky causeway. But this causeway is only passable at low tide, so care is needed when crossing to make sure that there is sufficient time to return before the tide comes in again. People often get stranded over there - and this includes the famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas!
On the occasion of my visit the tide came in and Worm's Head causeway rapidly disappeared under the rising waters. Several people were cut off and stranded on Worm’s Head so the coastguards called out the inshore lifeboat and this photo shows the rescue boat arriving back at the mainland with some of the rescued tourists.
The other boat is a sightseeing boat from nearby Oxwich Bay that had turned up to watch the excitement.
This area has the World’s second highest tidal range which can be up to 49 feet / 15 metres and more details of Worm's Head can be found here:

Rotterdam last Sunday: exceptionally blue sky and no clouds to be seen! I went for a little walk with my camera around the south part of Rotterdam (together with plenty of other photographers, so I noticed).
This is the newest skyscraper, named 'New Orleans'. It is the highest residential building in The Netherlands, for the time being, with a height of 160 meters.
The Taglang-La Pass in Himalaya is with 5.260 m (17.582 feet) the second highest passable pass of the world. It is a rather windy and cold area. Here you can see two parking horses.
