My original plan was to chill in Dalton for an hour or two & see whatever comes through as a side trip on the way home from Chattanooga that morning. I pulled into the parking lot by the depot when my friend Brad shared an update that 27W was east of Tallapoosa, GA with EMDX Yellow Slug 7208 in the lead. With that news, I immediately left & started booking it down I-75 towards Atlanta to try & beat it. Thankfully for me, the dispatcher put them in the hole at Temple to let two westbounds through, buying me enough time to get to Austell as he was again going into the hole at Lithia Springs for about 20 minutes to allow the higher priority 226 to slip by them. Upon determining not to try either Austell or Mableton, I went to Bridge since I knew I could get them from either side of the crossing there depending on where the sun was. It just so happened that G98, which is normally G78, was going into the lead for Argos USA right as I got there. I set up to get a few shots of them while I waited for 27W when next thing I know, 27W calls Bridge, allowing me to catch a rather eco-friendly meet as the ECO-set powering G98 was passed by the tier 4 demonstrator unit. The moral of this story... it pays to be at the right place at the right time. 7-10-20
It turns out that when you climb up over the steep cliff above Fitzgerald Falls, there's this beautiful part of the forest along the rocky stream and a few more small waterfalls I'll show later on. Monroe, Orange County, New York

Visiting southeastern New Brunswick to see the Hopewell Rocks. We stayed at a farm in nearby Albert Mines at a higher elevation. Leaving the farm early one morning, I saw one of the most colorful skies of our trip, before descending into the clouds. The Hopewell Rocks were shrouded in thick fog all morning.

Taken with a new invention I have been working on. (See below)
This is a shot of the Phoenix Convention Center taken last night from about six feet above my head.
I never thought this thing would be stable enough to do long exposures, but this shot was a one second exposure, and it's crystal clear.

The higher you go up Falls Creek, the more choked it gets with trees, both down and upright. Falls Creek is about 20 miles southwest of Anchorage, Alaska.
As Saturn climbs higher in the night sky, the clarity improves. With only a camera for imaging, it's amazing what can now be achieved. I'm off to New York state next week, where Saturn and Jupiter will be much higher in the sky...
With the possibility of sunshine and a freight working at the right time of day, a return to Thetford forest was called for today. 66120 hauls 4O50 Trowse Yard to Angerstein Wharf around the reverse curves near Brandon, the sun just dipping behind a cloud as the train approached. The wagons would have been in shadow anyway, could do with the sun being a bit higher in the sky. We'll see how the vegetation here grows up when summer comes!
