Toy Project Day 1260
Taken with a new invention I have been working on. (See below)
This is a shot of the Phoenix Convention Center taken last night from about six feet above my head.
I never thought this thing would be stable enough to do long exposures, but this shot was a one second exposure, and it's crystal clear.
Résidence Higher Roch is a 57 metres tall residential building completed in 2022 and located next to Saint-Roch railway station in Montpellier. It was designed by Philippe Bonon and A+ Architecture.
This is a photo of the 'Lady in the Wind' formation. I particularly liked the wall to the right when shooting this. This was my 2nd time down here and I am just amazed at the wonder that meets the viewer around each and every turn.
But with each passing turn, the overcast skies grew darker and darker... and when heavy thunderstorms rolled in and rain streaks began to adorn the canyon walls, we had to evacuate this labyrinth for fear of flash flooding. The sound of booming thunder in this particular slot canyon was not something I enjoyed hearing. So it was off to higher ground, where we found ourselves at The Dam Bar and Grille for a pint, or two...

Sunset at Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve, Central California.
Went for a hike yesterday and didn't see anyone else, despite being only a thirty minute drive from the Silicon Valley. I watched a few coyotes in a nearby meadow, and as the sun ducked behind the fog and clouds it got darn cold and darn windy, and my hands were so frozen I could barely press the shutter button.
As Saturn climbs higher in the night sky, the clarity improves. With only a camera for imaging, it's amazing what can now be achieved. I'm off to New York state next week, where Saturn and Jupiter will be much higher in the sky...
The Alpine chough or yellow-billed chough is a bird in the crow family, one of only two subspecies breed in high mountains from Spain eastwards through southern Europe and North Africa to Central Asia and Nepal, and it may nest at a higher altitude than any other bird.

Excerpt from a larger mural in a former soviet army building in eastern Germany
The "Manchester Wheel" circles above the crowds. Higher still is the trail of an airplane. Both are real and reflected in Selfridges (I think) windows. This is one of the few images on my photostream that I conceived beforehand, but I hadn't planned for the airplane trail (which I think adds something to the overall result)
I took quite a few variants of this, each from a slightly diffferent perspective. It seemed obvious to angle it so the line of the glass split the image exactly in two down the centre, with the airplane trails nicely joining up. But in the final analysis I much preferred this offset version.
