All the land in England higher than 3,000 feet (914 m) above sea level lies within the National Park, including Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. It also contains the deepest and largest natural lakes in England Wast Water and Windermere respectively.
Le Lake District est une région montagneuse située dans le Nord-Ouest de l'Angleterre. Très appréciée comme destination de vacances, elle est renommée en raison de ses lacs et montagnes (ou collines) En plus la région a été ajoutée à la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'humanité, par l'UNESCO. Tous les sommets d'Angleterre s'élevant à plus de 900 mètres d'altitude se trouvent dans le parc, notamment Scafell Pike, le point culminant de l'Angleterre. Der Lake District (deutsch „Seebezirk“) ist einer von fünfzehn Nationalparks des Vereinigten Königreichs. Als erster Nationalpark des Vereinigten Königreichs erhielt er im Juli 2017 den Status eines UNESCO-Welterbes. Er liegt in der Grafschaft Cumbria im Nordwesten Englands rund 130 km von Manchester entfernt und erstreckt sich über 2172 km². Die Cumbrian Mountains machen einen Großteil der eindrucksvollen Berg- und Seenlandschaft aus. Alle geographischen Punkte über 3000 Fuß (914,4 m) in England liegen im Lake District, ebenso der größte natürliche See Englands, der Windermere.
Do you like to get lost? Doing so at the close by mountain peak called Lisja Stjena ( Fox peak) back home it’s not that difficult to do. Chasing light at 1400m (4600ft) above the see level never gets dull. This particular trail brings a ton of feelings back and getting lost again in this beautiful landscapes is really exciting. What do you think?
The "higher elevations" are 16 miles away in the Smoky Mountains, good thing I don't depend on local TV weather to "plan my day"!!!

A stand of Japanese red cedar (Cryptomeria japonica) grows in the Parque Florestal do Cabouco Velho on the slopes on the east side of the the central volcano on Faial Island in the Azores. Because much of Faial's original forests were cleared in the 15th and 16th centuries for agriculture and pasture, today's forests are largely composed of introduced species like these. Enclaves of native evergreen forests and shrublands persist but mostly in less accessible, higher-elevation areas. The park is located in the Frequesia (parish) de Salaõ.
