"In the morning, everything is new.
The day's blank slate lies before me,
ready for my writing.
May it be words of beauty I write.
May it be deeds of grace I do.
May it be thoughts of joy I think.
All the Holy Ones, Listen;
this is what I pray.
Great Spirits of the Four Realms,
Holy Ones of the Realms of Minds,
Kindreds of Yore,
as I go through the day,
keep my eyes open wide.
May I not miss beauty.
May I not miss joy.
May I not miss wonder.
Keep me awake and aware of the world.
It is my privilege to perform my morning prayers.
It is my honor to do what should be done.
As I rise with the morning, fog lifting slowly for my mind,
I pray not to forget these truths.
Awen."

We had rain in the morning today. But it cleared up in the afternoon. I know it is the perfect time of shooting sunset with Taipei 101. I do love Taipei 101 gets soft sun during the winter time.
今天雨後放晴,是拍攝冬季夕陽絕佳時機,果然夕陽斜射在101上面,最是迷人。

Thank you for having the time to look threw my work.
This is a merged image of 3 sets of HDR. Since the low fog changed rapidly and HDR can present its 3D effect. Lake Kawaguchi Bridge is showing in the fog.
拍攝富士山雲海時,發現HDR比較能呈現雲海立體的感覺,所以拍攝了三組各七張的相片,組合成這張全景,下面若隱若現的是河口湖大橋。

The northern lights, falling stars, foggy treetops, owls howling, wolves running...this night had it all.

- I knew it was worth it.
Thanks for looking! :)

The lights on Taipei 101 has been repositioned on its top and is much smaller than the old version. Since the wording is in motion, only the heart sign can be catched by single shot.
101新版的字燈縮到頂端,所以面積較小,字都是用跑的,只有心型符號比較清晰可見,多日雨後,傍晚的夜景很美,「眼界豁然因有覺,六塵空後見真心」。

High angle view from the rooftop of the Elizabethan tower on Sissinghurst Castle, Kent, England, UK.
Sissinghurst is famous for its garden, created in the 1930s by Vita Sackville-West, poet and gardening writer, and her husband Harold Nicolson, author and diplomat.
The crooked chimneys far right are a characteristic feature of the oast houses ( hop houses ) in Kent.
Happy Bench Friday :-)
Last weekend, when I caught wind that Canadian National X188 was planned for the Three Hills Subdivision with EMD SD75IACC 8327 leading, I made the long drive north from Calgary to Mirror. Having never photographed the Three Hills Subdivision, nor one of CN’s SD75I rebuilds, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone (or, depending on your persuasion, get two birds stoned at once).
Anyways, I digress.
Completely unfamiliar with the territory, I relied on some helpful recommendations from a good friend to get pointed in the right direction. But with little (read: no) pre-planning, I was really flying by the seat of my pants. One of the signature shots I was hoping to capture was X188 crossing the big trestle over the Red Deer River just north of Ardley. However, unsure whether the bridge would be within drone range, or even accessible, I made the rookie mistake of trying to photograph the train crossing the diamond with CPKC at Alix and then hustling over to Ardley. By my calculations, the timing should have worked out perfectly. But, alas, it did not.
Just as I launched the drone, X188's head-end had already crossed the bridge. With only seconds to spare, I salvaged what I could. The resulting image was interesting in its own right, but it wasn’t the shot I had in mind. Frustrated but undeterred, I carried on to Grainger before breaking chase and heading to a friend's house in Airdrie for the night.
The next morning, the missed shot was still nagging at me. I was already toying with the idea of going back for a second attempt when a timely text came in that 442 was planned out of Mirror later that afternoon with a pair of original EMD SD75Is.
Well, that made the decision easy.
So, back on the road I went. This time, I skipped the shot at Alix and waited patiently at Ardley for the trestle scene I’d been after. Sure, it wasn’t the sparkling clean rebuild I’d hoped for, but in my book, a pair of original SD75Is is a fine consolation prize.
Stretching 1,505 feet in length and soaring 158 feet above the Red Deer River, the Ardley trestle, with its classic wooden approaches, is truly a sight to behold. In this shot, a pair of Canadian National EMD SD75Is power across the impressive structure hauling train no. 442 from Edmonton to Calgary.
Under moody October skies, an eastbound autorack train negotiates the serpentine contours of Canadian Pacific's route along the north shore of Lake Superior at Neys, Ontario.
There is a fleeting moment in mid-autumn when the colors feel almost heavy. I caught this couple descending toward the water, perfectly framed by the thinning trees. The way the grey stone cuts through the fallen gold felt like a story waiting to be told.

Traveling eastbound on Alberta Highway 12, an overpass just west of Alix provides one of the few overhead views of CPKC’s Lacombe Subdivision; a 44-mile branch line that splits from the railway's north-south mainline to Edmonton at Lacombe and extends into the heart of Central Alberta, terminating in Stettler. From this vantage point, a handsome trio of Candy Apple Red EMDs, assigned to the day's Stettler Turn (B22), lead a 20-car train toward the end of the line at Stettler, where they will interchange with the Alberta Prairie Railway.
Although the Stettler Turn operates just one day a week, it often features attractive motive power that's hard to find elsewhere, offering a refreshing break from the mainline and ubiquitous lashups seen elsewhere across the system.
Perched atop a large cut overlooking the countryside of Central Alberta, a rather eclectic quartet of EMD locomotives guide Red Deer–Stettler local B22, also known as 'the Stettler Turn,' along CPKC's Lacombe Subdivision near the community of Nevis. Here, on B22's return trip to Red Deer, SD40-2 6068 has a train of 15 cars on the drawbar, along with GP38 No. 6347, all lifted from the Alberta Prairie Railway in Stettler.
Having first 'discovered' this line earlier in the month, I immediately fell in love with its laid-back character and was drawn to the elusiveness of the once-weekly Stettler Turn, which often rates large EMD road units, as seen here. On my first visit, however, this specific angle had eluded me as I contended with waist-deep snow, missing the shot I wanted by mere seconds. I knew a return trip was necessary.
So, with the forecast calling for a spectacular (albeit frigid) bluebird day, I bundled up and made the trek out to the Lacombe Subdivision for another attempt. Thankfully, on this day, I had a little more time to set up and capture the shot I had envisioned—the power was certainly an added bonus, and the cold feet were well worth it!

From high atop the hill, SOO 6027 is seen passing the historic Hamilton Brick Works with Canadian Pacific train no. 246 as they set off their steel in Kinnear Yard. In all of my years photographing trains in Hamilton, this angle has evaded me - in fact, I didn't even know it existed. Surprisingly, though, this angle is quite accessible. However all you need is a train - thankfully CP played ball.

It becomes autumn this week since the temperature drops and the air cleans up. We had a beautiful sunset this afternoon. I was very lucky of being Peak of Mt. Nankang. It is a great shooting spot of Taipei 101.

the city moves. not just horizontally on its streets, but vertically, into its metallic depths. he descends on a moving staircase. a solitary figure in blue and orange. the wall beside him is a dark, curved mirror. it catches his reflection, a blurred, distorted ghost of himself, descending with him. for a moment, there are two of him. the real man, and his abstract copy. both moving silently through the clean, cold geometry of the underground.
I had no luck on shooting Taipei 101 recently. Only can share an old shot from May.
