I was walking in Berbera old town when a man came to me. I had to answer for the 500th times to the questions "what are you doing, from where do you come, are you a journalist..". The man was a teacher, and he accepted to let me take pictures of the students.
He is supposed to send me his mail to receive the pics..

5XP HDR shot of the Forbidden City from atop Jingshan Hill in Beijing, China.
Was hoping for a more dynamic scene but haze and an early park closing time made things challenging. Still, enjoyed the relative calm from up there! :)

Project 2020/366 - Day 010: Construction Toy Playground
I had to go over to Georgetown Hospital for an appointment and while waiting to be called, I wandered over to the window for a look around. The hospital is under some kind of perpetual construction program with equipment, cranes, hard hats, orange cones, diversions, detours, dirt, dust, and temporary sign everywhere. Seemingly it has been that way for several years, which might explain my hospital charges.
Anyway, walking over to the window, I look out and below, there is this colorful scene I had been unable to spy from ground level (I came through on the walkway at the upper left corner behind the stop sign). From this high up on the fourth floor, it looked like a little child's play set, with toys scattered all about. Well, maybe except for the portable toilets ....
The 50 mm on the camera didn't really allow me to zoom out (my 18 mm is out for repair), so I ended up with a "nifty-fifty" image. It's a messy, chaotic, disorganised scene, which I really liked, but to the men (and women) who work on these sites, there is an order hidden to the outside observer. The guy in the upper middle was poking at something on the ground with his feet and would not look up; I wanted to catch his face as he was yakking away into his mobile.
Thanks for stopping by!

The teachers joined in a relay race at our schools sports day event. I got these high angle shots from the third floor
Lokakshema.
What a wonderful word! It is Sanskrit for 'global wellbeing'
Let the entire world feel joy - ultimately this is the only thing which matters. We're living through a pandemic where our freedom of social interaction has temporarily been restricted but we must look out for others, now more than ever.
Don't take for granted the present moment, the joy of great food, silly things which make you laugh, good coffee, feeling sunshine on your face, celebrating life.
And if you can't lift yourself, lift someone else.
You are alive now.. act like it!

Do you remember doing this as a kid? I LOVED the feeling of spinning so fast :) (For this shot I climbed with my $1k+ L lens on TOP of the swingset because I wanted to include the overhead shadow-- pushing the comfort zones a bit, lol but it was fun for me too :) I was an acrobat in a former life so all is well.
All around the little rocky hills of Tchidundo Hulo, you can see those strange drawings, star motifs, circles and abstract designs, and sometimes, animals like giraffes. Nowadays, most of those rock arts from long time ago are destroyed, or stolen to be sold in black market. It is so easy to remove them, as the hill just made of hundreds of layers!

This is Renzo while shooting skateboarding at a spot in Huaraz, Perú. I was on top of a roof getting the wide angle.
Single Raw HDR shot of lightning above Kowloon in Hong Kong.
This was a 25 sec. long exposure using my 14-24mm, which I chose in order to try and capture as much of the scene as possible since lightning can be so unpredictable... Had hoped for more usable images but only captured 3 good ones (incl. this one) in over half an hour despite intense lightning activity! Would've also liked this to be touching down but I think this lightning streak across the sky is really awesome~ the reach is at least over 10km from the mountains to the bay!
I remember my first feeble attempt at capturing lightning some years ago resulted in a blurry mush via a P&S camera. So happy to have improved technique, better equipment, and some luck to be in the right place at the right time to finally capture lightning! :D

Heavy dark clouds and some mist dampened the mood but I'll be back for another chance at a sunrise capture!

Getting cold after a morning shooting by the river in -19°C temperatures, I was heading home when I saw this jumble of ice with fresh snow at the edge of the river. I hesitated for a moment, but then took my gloves off and got my camera back out of the bag.
I was looking almost straight down from a narrow and precipitous path. I always love shooting in the snow because shadows get so much reflected fill-light. The ice seems to glow under the snow.
January is just getting underway, and if the low temperatures continue, there will be a lot more ice like this along the river shortly.
