And here comes the bride, with her dad! (sorry I had to blur her face to protect her privacy). My son and I have traveled here to Manipur in NE India to attend this wedding, as we are related to the bride. The groom is already here, and the bridal shower for the bride was held at her village the previous day (see previous pictures earlier in this album), and so it's now time for the wedding proper. This is being held in a church in the hilltop town of Ukhrul. It's biting cold, wet and raining outside, yet the wedding saw a pretty decent turnout with the church hall being packed. A very good sign indeed for the bride and groom, with so many people braving the weather to wish them well and to bless them. (Note: Some faces have been blurred to protect the privacy of the individuals). (Ukhrul, Manipur, NE India, Jan. 2020)
A shadowy Sir Paul McCartney performs his acoustic tribute to fellow Beatle John Lennon, in the form of the song Here Today, during his one-off BBC Electric Proms concert at the Roundhouse, Camden, London, England.

Taken on October 25, 2007.
From here and elsewhere in the area, since time immoral, people of the village obtained their dosage of shaturated fat. I remember being served a very strange portion of fish which I can only refer to now as the piece of cod which passeth all understanding. The building is actually a front for MI6 who in their extensive network under the village examine every e-mail you send, and lose any that threaten the existence of western society. Not a lot of people know this, of course.
Also little known is that this is the actual chip shop where Elvis Presley, aged 80, still works. His hair, or what remains of it, is slicked down with lard and his blue suede shoes are well dripped on. Please do not divulge this information!
Here is another photo from our visit to New Orleans. In this photo is Karla holding our goddaughter Isabelle. I love Isabelle's concerning expression as she stares directly at me. She looks so cute.
I snapped this picture while we waited for beignets at the famous Cafe Du Monde in the French Market. It was cloudy and a little rainy which provided some nice soft light as we sat under the canopy.
Here are some pictures taken at the Philmont Scouts Ranch Base Camp in June 2014. I was playing with my camera, just seeing how things would turn out. I was happy with most of them.
Here is my dinky toys observation coach which was purchased in a very sorry state with chipping to part of the casting and paintwork which looked to have been applied by a broom. Full restoration took place and this is how it looks now! Very pleased with it and restored to original condition

They say grass is greener on the other side of the fence
but to follow greener pastures comes with consequence
the skies aren't any bluer.. the clouds float idly by
to want a different scenery.. you need to ask yourself why
to leave means discarding totally the familiar and the known
and removing yourself from the seeds you've already sown
learning new routines under new rules with all new faces
sometimes giving up endless fields for little cement spaces
understandably there are circumstances beyond your control
sometimes you need more room for your rock to really roll
so while sitting on the fence... take time to truly assess
search your heart and visualize... determine what is best
what will be the best.. for all that you hold dear
seeking greener pastures.. or what you have right here

One of six views of my new baby, for Ira. Duane keeps bragging on my car & Ira's gotten curious to see her. Here she is, my 2012 Prius V (that's letter V) hybrid wagon! I got her a week ago, today! I had been driving a Toyota Matrix AWD hatchback for the past 6 years. Once I retired, I started toying with the idea of getting a new car for my new stage of life. I was conflicted, though. I was considering a small, fuel-efficient car, a car with the size & versatility of my Matrix, or, perhaps, something a bit larger & more comfortable, for travelling. When I realized that Toyota had brought out a new model Prius in 2012, I wondered if it might meet all of my wishes in one car. So far, I'm tickled pink! Although my Prius is only a foot longer than the Matrix & 6 inches higher (width is the same), it has approximately 3 times as much storage space in the hatch, as well as having reclining back seats on a track. The front seats adjust in a variety of ways, for all body sizes & shapes. Even in the break-in period, I'm getting 43.8 mpg (over the 28-32 in my Matrix). The car accelerates well, brakes & corners well. In short, I expect to be a happy Prius owner. Did I mention the built-in GPS? Big, clear screen & talks to me. Seems to give clear, correct directions. Yay! The color is called "Clear Sky Metallic." It's an unassuming light blue, bordering on silver; nice! Check here for more information on the Prius:

Here is a rear view of my new Prius.
here comes everybody from the outside
they all want the same things that you hate
turn your face back on and crack a smile
here comes everybody you never cared for
After about an hour and a half of work, train #277 finally gets rolling after a pick-up off the Carlson Pass. I gave the conductor a ride up to the head-end after getting the train together to save everyone a little time. With the leasers hitting the storage lines again, this sure is a welcome sight! 8/1/2012
An unexpected sight in the garden of the pub we are staying at - a shiny dragon's head in the garden.
Summit Pole atop Mission peak. Tagged by many anon hikers whom wanted to be immortalized by defacing a regional park monument. Elvis was apparently here a couple days before me. that guy gets everywhere

We're Here - Love
So what do I love? Well not unlike Bellatrix I'm loving this new body of mine. It seems odd to see it shrinking again. I'm still 'fat' by societies standards but I really don't give a rats ass. No diet...I just got super serious about training for my next 1/2 marathon.
To make things even more exciting...I just registered for my first FULL marathon in May.
Excuse me while I go throw up.
Terrifying but thrilling.
Truly I could have taken a shot of me running...or of my running shoes, but ultimately as egomaniacle as it sounds I love who I've turned into...and let's face it...I REALLY love playing dress up. :D

Here is an overall photograph of the Grants Canal memorial. The memorial is located in Delta Louisiana and is part of the Vicksburg National Military Park Tour.
During the Civil war Vicksburg Campaign, the Union needed to capture Vicksburg to have clear and easy passage of the Mississippi River from Memphis Tennessee to New Orleans Louisiana. Vicksburg was the last Confederate port on the Mississippi. It was heavily fortified.
The Union army initially tried to change the course of the Mississippi River further West to bypass the City of Vicksburg. Had they been successful, Vicksburg would have been just another city on the Mississippi River.
In 1862 Union General Thomas Williams ordered the 1st initial attempt to dig the channel. The effort failed due to various reasons. In January 1863 the Union commanded by Ulysses Grant resumed work on the canal but, that effort ended in failure.
This is a photograph of the entire memorial showing the individual monuments. The Main marker is located near the main road. In 1936, the city of Delta Louisiana erected this monument. The Williams Memorial gives a detailed description of what the Union was trying to accomplish. The newest monument is the Connecticut Memorial and was erected in 2009.
This is part of the Vicksburg National Military Park Tour but, it is in a remote location. To get here you have to travel across the I20 bridge to Delta Louisiana. Take the Delta exit then travel back to Delta on the frontage road. Follow the park signs.
