gather round the fires
fall will take away the liars
with their sun tans and Kaftans
and give us back our sweaters and wooly socks.
long live the flowers of the sun

Here's another wildflower I photographed on Hayden Prairie yesterday. This lovely little violet wood sorrel plant blooms early in the season before the taller prairie plants crowd it out. These plants are edible but very sour to the taste since they contain oxalic acid. Violet wood sorrel sometimes goes by the name sour grass or shamrock.
Here we have a buzzard, post-breakfast, tentatively wading into the water. Wings held up, it seems to be testing the unfamiliar terrain. A snapshot of curiosity in action.
Here's my wide take of LL-1 coming down the hill towards the switchback connecting to the trolley line, Monday's breathtaking winter paradise could make almost any location look good.
Here I go again, treading water to get the shot. Like many Cloughs, or, Ravines in Lancashire, this, the Douglas River still has some of its ruins from when a Cotton mill would have harnessed the power of the water for its workings.

In a busy world it is so easy to get caught up in thinkng about the future or dwelling in the past. I am fortunate that life's pace on the river is much slower, and it allows me stay in the present, to be here now.
