Here's a little better look at some of the subtle beauty on a blue-winged teal drake, since I could zoom in on him now that there wasn't a hen at his side like yesterday. There are usually several blue-winged teal pairs nesting in the headwaters here at Lake Meyer into summer.
Here we have another bird that has been eluding me for a while folks, but managed a few of this guy.
Early shoot today and will catch up later.
Thank you for stopping by everyone, and have a great day.
Captured here is the walkway that separates the old part of Tursi called the La Rabatana from the newer lower part and what needed to be surmounted before I could have the best wood fired pizza in the city. I truthfully thought about secondary plans after I spent some time taking pictures in the area staring up the steep incline but after I snapped this a 90 year old Nonna stepped on to the stairs and began her climb slow steady up to the top with her pull behind cart trailing her.
La Rabatana is a impressive jumble of houses built with stones and bricks with an Arabic influence an inheritance of the Saracens who settled there in 850 BC and the first populated area of what is now known as Tursi. Surrounding the Rabatana are deep ravines cut from clay making its defensive position a hard one to crack but the Byzantines did so in 890 AD ending the Saracen presence in the area but not their influences on local language, food and culture.
Tursi is the city of Albino Pierro, the most famous son of Tursi a poet repeatedly nominated for the Nobel Prize for literature for his poems written in native Lucanian dialect and subject of a literary park set in his homestead. "That of Tursi, my town in the province of Matera, / was one of the many talks destined to disappear. / I had to look for the way to fix the sounds of my people on paper".
I took this on Oct 3rd, 2018 with my D750 and Nikon 16-35mm f4.0 Lens at 35mm 1.6s f`16 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , and DXO

Hoh Rainforest is one of the largest temperate rainforests in the U.S., located on the Olympic Peninsula in western Washington state.[1] It includes 24 miles (39 km) of low elevation forest 394 to 2,493 feet (120 to 760 m) along the Hoh River. The Hoh River valley was formed thousands of years ago by glaciers.

Mile marker 203, the gas gauge leanin' on the edge of "E",
An' I'll be dang'd if the rain ain't pourin' down.
There's somethin' smokin' underneath the hood,
It's a-bangin' and a-clangin' an' it can't be good,
An' it's another fifty miles to the nearest town.
Everythin' I own's in the back in a hefty bag;
I'm outta cigarettes an' I'm down to my last drag.
I'd sure hate to break down here,
Nothin' up ahead or in the rear view mirror.
Out in the middle of nowhere, knowin'.
I'm in trouble if these wheels stop rollin'.
So, God help me, keep me movin' somehow.
Don't let me start wishin' I was with him now.
I made it this far without cryin' a single tear.
I'd sure hate to break down here.

"I'm saying look, here they come, pay attention. Let your eyes transform what appears ordinary, commonplace, into what it is, a moment in time, an observed fragment of eternity."
Quote - Philip Levine
If you want, you may guess 'into what it is" they will change ;-)
Here in the UK today, Sunday 22 March, it's Mothering Sunday; the strangest one ever for all mothers in the country. We all usually all go out for lunch - today my children & grandchildren left my presents outside my front door and we spoke to one another through the (closed) window; the practise of social distancing.
This artwork is from some of the flowers I received.
Ah well - I've plenty of chocolates to keep me going!
You call me a liar when I tell you the truth.... Here's to you, that special kinda 'special' someone, you can kiss this goodbye
