As soon as Mrs. Ducke lifted the mattress from the box spring to put sheets on, Parsnip was all over the process. This catches her in a moment which was neither particularly helpful nor safe. In fact, it's like the extreme sport version of 'kitty lumping'..:)

We shovelled for over two hours to clear away the driveway, and the
walkway, and the back gallery (deck), and the path to the oil tank and
basement door and the path to the compost pile. It would have taken
longer if our friend from next door with his snowblower had not done
most of the front of the driveway -- that's where the heaviest and
densest snow is ploughed in from the road.

The artwork was by Mike, who has drawn the statue as commemorating Sir J. Smugsby (1830-1895).
all my "go away" signals were not working. We had a good laugh when the guy who runs the place started yammering at him how to hold his elbows later on.
I knew that peonies needed ants to help them, but I have no idea why these ants were all over the queen anne's lace today.
