About to give up on finding Standing Bear, a much needed resupply after 7 days of hiking in Smokey Mountain National Park. I had just decided to hoof it another 16 miles into Hot Springs, when I saw this. I truly thought it was an enamel pin, the shape was so perfect.

Following the arrow, and my intuition, I went off trail in the direction of the arrow. Lo and behold, 15 minutes later, there was Standing Bear Hostel.

Trail Magic, indeed.

Our friendly neighbour Kerry (so?) cleans the sidewalks of the neighbourhood. This morning he cleared a foot of snow (30 cm) from our driveway with a Cat. Thanks! Most helpful given that total snowfall amounts of to up to 40 cm are expected by this evening.
