While shooting in St. Louis this man approached a friend of mine and I asking about what we were photographing and why. We spoke for several minutes as he told us of his work. He works with U.S. veterns returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. He hammed home the important role they fulfill for us and the hardships they face when returning home. I forget his name, but I remember his message. I am sure he would be ok with that. His message was simple, respect and appreciate those members of our communities that were willing to sacrifice everything to serve us. Some come back bruised, physically and mentally, others broken. All of them deserve our support and thanks. This man's service to those returning troops deserves equal praise and support. Thank you, Mr. America.

Guess who broke out the macro lens tonight? I did! I need to learn this lens! Each lens has its little tricks, and I'm a newbie with a macro. Read a manual? What?! I like hands on, trial by fire learning myself.
This is a really lovely necklace given to me by a friend who was in Afghanistan when he sent this to me. I love it.
