This is part of an image flickr member jeremyferguson asked for some help with, after some work of mine; my copy of this part of the original image for side-by-side reference is here, and the original where I found the help request is here. The original is © jeremyferguson, the mods are mine, but I award all rights to the mods back to jeremyferguson; this restoration is a gift. All my restoration work on this image was done with WinImages, running under Parallels in Windows XP, on a Mac pro.
Jeremy had clipped part of the image and made a very good black and white out of it. I followed his steps to get the same portion of the image (clipped the same region, then scaled it 141%) and then proceeded to work at trying to get the color out of the image.
This is the result; I used Winimages to break the image into CMY layers (because that's how photos are printed) and then I worked until I had a semblance of what seemed to be likely color - notice I didn't say correct - for the pup's face.
From there, I cloned out the master image from the separation, developed a B&W from it, and then built a new layered image with the B&W and the colored CMY result, such as it was, of the dog. I set the lower layer to "normal" and the upper layer to "saturated color" and proceeded to have an hour long session of spreading, dying, tinting, filling, and otherwise smooshing the colors I thought were right over the colors that I thought were wrong. I used WinImages auto color balance to balance the dog's pelt to white near various other items in order to correct the colors at that brightness so the local color damage was compensated for; this led to hints on the colors of various items in the scene, which I used to go further.
Consequently, this is very much an interpretive work, rather than as much of a restoration as I would prefer. Still, we do have color that isn't outright horrible.
I've still got a few questions remaining about pup's back; looks to me like the spots are maybe not quite right.
To compare, open both images in a web browser tab, and click back and forth between them.
Any thoughts on how to fix this? It should be a circle and part of the plastic broke (got her this way, I don't have the plastic).
One of our former prime ministers, is strongly against the treatment the Palestines get, year after year, starting in 1945. He has a good and solid website, and can proofe that the role Israel is playing, as well as the USA is inhuman, and very dangerous. At this moment, the GAZA border with Egypt will be closed again, with the help of: who knows. Children, babys, mothers, fathers, everybody must suffer because Israel claimes they suffered. Well, my father was a warprisoner in the second world war, but even he is strongly against what is happening year after year in Israel. They will be the cause of a third worldwar, with herr Bush as criminal on the list. I never can enter the USA, nor Israel, because we all know, flickr is beeing scanned. I don't care, I am a boeddist, and understand..moreless...But even I would get angry if I would have to 'live' in a prison, with walls, called GAZA. Stop Israel, they should try and understand that this attitude will not help, many many of my friends, jews, christians, moslims, are against what is going on there. Israel makes hatred possible, is that the answer: must everybody suffer? Wake up.
This might be a bit too political for some but I make no apologies.
I am appalled and disgusted at the cruel and inhumane treatment meted out by the Australian government to asylum seekers. Indefinite detention in appalling conditions for people who have committed no crime, no crime whatsoever, makes me ashamed of this country.

Joe has been missing now for two whole days! His friends and loved ones are worried sick. Please help in anyway you can.
Day 304 of 365.
(Just a reminder - this is a joke!)
Henry made himself at home underneath Sean's injured foot. Perhaps he is trying to help elevate the foot.
Or perhaps, he's just found a good place to cower.

"So Kang, I'm doing this for the beer and pizza, but how the heck did She-Hulk get you to help her move?"
"You know how she's a lawyer, and can talk, like, forever."
"God yes."
"Well, her...uh...tracts of land? They're right at eye level when she's talking and, well, they're quite hypnotic."
"Yeah...it's not about the beer and pizza."
"Yeah."
If you lived anywhere along the Gulf coast on August 29th 2005, you probably have your own Hurricane Katrina stories to tell. I lived in Mobile, Al., about 65 miles east of the eye's landfall. It was bad in Mobile, but my home sustained minimal damage and my biggest complaints were being without power for 9 days and the maddening noise of my next door neighbors generator. (which happened to be about fifteen feet away from my bedroom window.) We could all sympathize with the people of Mississippi and Louisiana. If you live along the Gulf coast long enough, it's not a matter of if, but when, you will experience a hurricane. I took these pictures on our first trip back to New Orleans after the storm. Coincidentally, it happened to be the exact one year anniversary of the storm. My wife and I were shocked to see the scope and the totality of the destruction. I know its cliche' to describe a scene as looking like a bomb went off, but I really can't think of a better description. Huge sections of the city were totally destroyed and still completely abandoned. It was easy to see why. There was nothing to return to. We've been back to New Orleans several times since I took these pictures, but we don't go nearly as often as we used to. Maybe I'm imagining it, but the place doesn't quite seem to have the same vibe. I'm hoping for the best for New Orleans on this ten year anniversary of hurricane Katrina. It's always been one of my favorite places.
My husband's cat helped me with this submission to the Arachtober pool. Miffr (he's very "Web 2.0") thinks that bugs exist for his own personal enjoyment. He's not allowed outside, but he is allowed in the basement, and I never know what treasure he's going to bring upstairs next. It's usually crickets, which I feed to my pet mantis, Valerie, but sometimes, it's spiders. Once, it was a brown recluse spider (that was pretty cool), but this time, a pretty funnel-web spider. I shot her when I released her, and you can tell that I had kitteh-help getting her...count her legs. :þ
There is a certain unescapable irony here.
Leave it to the attornies to find a way to make money off the homeless.

This is a little set I made to give a hand. All the proceeds are donated to the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund. Please if you can lend a hand, I would appreciate it.
I will try to make 2 more for the weekend and next week. Let's keep the help going and going, this does not stop this week :)
According to TMZ, Her rep told them: 'Demi Lovato left her tour early this weekend in order to seek medical treatment for emotional & physical issues she has dealt with for some time.' She is not seeking treatment for drug use:
'Demi has decided to take personal responsibility for her actions and seek help. She is doing just that. [Demi] regrets not being able to finish her tour, but is looking forward to getting back to work in the near future.' She was in a physical altercation with a female member of her tour recently which was a 'catalyst' in her decision to seek professional help.
Let's all pray for her. If you leave a mean comment, I will delete it.
