The last rays of sunlight kiss the tip of Crown & Grouse Mountain creating an Alpenglow and painting the clouds pink. Below, the British Properties carved into the foothills of Hollyburn Mountain. Looking northeast over English Bay to the shoreline of West Vancouver from Dundarave to Ambleside and Sentinel Hill high above Park Royal. This was the night before the last full moon we had at the beginning of March. As the 98% Waxing gibbous Full Worm Moon rose to my right, this beauty was happening of our north shore mountains. Tide out at Spanish Banks Beach Monday evening. The last beams of sun hit the west side of a couple of ships at anchor in English Bay. A family curiously searches the tide pools for something while a curious photographer wants to know what's in the bag πŸ˜‚

In the distance, beyond Bowen Island is the highest peak on the Sunshine Coast. Tetrahedron Peak (on the right) stretches 1,739m (5705ft) into the sky and is located in Tetrahedron Provincial Park. The second highest, centered, is Panther Peak 1,627m (5,338ft).

The closest ship is a bulk carrier named the "Andalucian Zephyr". The longer one is the "Morning Cherry" a roll-on/roll-off vehicle carrier.

Lulu Island's historic hidden treasure. Frozen in time, this quiet little community of Finn Slough dates back to the year 1900 when a group of Finnish newcomers moved here from their settlement just up the road at 4 & Finn Road. It was easy access to salmon fishing on the Fraser River. The homes here are built on stilts because the river's tide flows in and out. People still live here including the descendants of the original settlers. If you decide to visit, please be respectful of their privacy and obey all posted signs.

That's a crude summary of Finn Slough. There's a lot more to learn about the wild ongoing history, visit www.FinnSlough.com

To learn even more, read the amazing essay written by Robyn Hanson (@BCRobyn on Instagram) and posted on her website here www.bcrobyn.com/2021/02/the-uncertain-future-of-finn-slough

Unfortunately, Finn Slough is not registered as a National Historic Site of Canada. In fact, it's not even recognized provincially or locally. It’s caught in the middle of many controversies including being on an intertidal area. #SaveFinnSlough

Wispy salmon-coloured clouds reflect off the Salish Sea after sundown at the Tsawwassen Spit. Fishing lessons from the best of teachers, preparing your line, casting your line and waiting to dine. Looking south southeast over the invisible 49th parallel (Canada-US Border) and into Washington State. On the left, the tip of Point Roberts. The two humps in the distance are Moran State Park and Turtleback Mountain Reserve, both on Orcas Island which is part of the San Juan Islands. High and dry on the rocky shore after strong winds and heavy rain hit the south coast of British Columbia. The Super Pink Moon rises over North Vancouver's tallest building, appropriately named "Observatory". The sun was setting at my back as it cast a golden glow on the buildings in front of me. The purple haze of twilight beginning far in the distance. Looking over Seaspan's Vancouver Shipyards, Lower Lonsdale, Keith-Lynn, Belcarra to this mega moon rising over Golden Ears Provincial Park and snow capped mountain ranges beyond Agassiz and Chilliwack.

A solo urban hike to the top of the Lions Gate Bridge deck. I setup and waited in the wind on the northeast side of the bumpy bridge with my 75-300mm (non-stabilizing) lens fully extended. These high rises are 4.25 km (2.64 miles) away from where I stood... Golden Ears 45 km (28 miles) and the moon 363,594 km (225,926 miles)πŸ˜‰ Captured over the Burrard Inlet in between West Vancouver, North Vancouver and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ~ April 7, 2020 πŸ’—

"In The Pink"... in very good health and spirits.

Interesting fact: The penthouse of the 29 floor, 30 year old "Observatory" is currently on the market for $5 million dollars. 2321 sqft inside, 1500 sqft outside, 3 level, 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom with amazing views.
