One from the archives from what must have been my very first days of ownership of the Sony RX10m4. This was taken at a small deck at the side of Lillydale Lake in Lilydale, Victoria. (Note the spelling differnece in the two Lilydales - going on what Google Maps tells me).
This welcome swallow was particularly tame and let me get remarkably close before spreading the wings and taking off.

In Sydney's Botanic Gardens, a friendly Sulphur Crested Cockatoo takes an unsuspecting American visitor by surprise. After his initial shock, the man and bird settled into a wonderful five minute friendship, which was about the time it took for the seeds to run out.

He may look docile and indeed seemed docile as we viewed from our vehicle but according to the Kruger Park FAQ guide,
"Buffalo are considered one of the most dangerous animals in Africa and the animal that hunters are most wary of. Buffalo have a reputation of lying in wait for pursuers and charging at the last minute. Old bulls that have left the herd tend to be the more aggressive."

The Great Horned Owl family is doing well and this little one is especially alert and observant. Wherever I went with the camera, this set of eyes followed. The other little one is sitting to the left and seemed to be resting for the short time we were there. As of Monday afternoon, all is well in the Owl home :)

When a wild owl unexpectedly chooses to pose at the end of your lens it would be rude not to take advantage.
The light was beautiful and really picked out the beautiful colours of this gorgeous owl.
She was a most accommodating girl and happily posed several times along the wall for about 30 minutes.

This photo is also the answer to the previous photo (see first comment box), some people were wondering what they were actually seeing. Some had the right suggestion.
Not that I did ask it what it is you see…...I thought that everyone would see immediately, that it is a detail of a pair of glasses.....
