My first color of the year. One more month of yuck and life begins to renew. Bring it on!
I was not happy with this image and stepped away from working on it. I came back to it when I remembered an old trick that was taught to me when I was serving my photography apprenticeship. I flipped the image upside down and it was immediate that what bothered me was the sharp leave spikes on the right side. They were getting way too much eye contact, so I mushed them up and that did the trick. Hope you enjoy the flowers!

Hello all lovely Flickr friends.
Back after a month with my son, who has incurable cancer. The chemotherapy is helping for a while, and we have had wonderful days.
I'm having my next knee surgery in a few days, and during the painstaking rehabilitation I probably won't be able to be active on Flickr.
But I'm back in the spring again.

The small guy (Brown) is very old. He was born in China, and later he came to a UK Chinese food shop.
The big one (White) was born in the UK just about a week ago, then she came to Tesco (a Supermarket).
I let them say " Hello" and 你好, for "Macro Mondays".

hello, everybody. just popping in to let you know i am still here, even if barely. arrived in Manila last Sunday and now enjoying the company of Arnel, aka lenareh and his family. i hope you all are keeping well. i won't be able to visit your streams at the moment as i don't have much time to be online. in fact, i must sign off now to prepare for the next leg of my visit. on to Daet, Camarines Norte, scene of this jump shot.

Green-crowned Woodnymph - Woodnymphs (Thalurania) are medium-sized hummingbirds with a slightly decurved, black bill; the males also have a noticeably forked tail, and glittering throat and belly. They inhabit the understory of humid lowland forest and in adjacent advanced second growth, and often are common. The Green-crowned Woodnymph is the representative of this genus that occurs from eastern Panama south to southwestern Ecuador. As the name implies, this is the only species of woodnymph in which the crown of the male is glittering green. Four subspecies of Green-crowned Woodnymph are recognized. The three northern subspecies all are very similar: the male has a green throat but a blue breast and belly, while the female has a gray throat and the belly is mixed dark gray and dark green. The southernmost subspecies, hypochlora of southwestern Ecuador, is very different, however: the male is entirely green below, while the underparts of the female are all pale gray.

One from the archives from what must have been my very first days of ownership of the Sony RX10m4. This was taken at a small deck at the side of Lillydale Lake in Lilydale, Victoria. (Note the spelling differnece in the two Lilydales - going on what Google Maps tells me).
This welcome swallow was particularly tame and let me get remarkably close before spreading the wings and taking off.
