A sylph is a mythical creature as light as air and as graceful as water.
Lovely new pointe shoes for Rosie, in a few weeks they'll look like hell. They don't last that long being made of satin and layers of paper stiffened with glue, about 12 hours worth of dancing is all. This pair may make it through the summer. There is a very thin pad that wraps around and cushions the toes, much thinner than you would guess. The muscles in the feet are conditioned and strengthened for years before you get to this stage.

Shot this silhouette headshot of my lovely lady, Lily, while we were checking out a graveyard in Gallitzin, PA.
This is a shot of the first and second tier above the falls. There was a really nice flow surprising to me as I thought it would have been raging with all the rain the last few days. Perfect for me, went all the way across the falls but not a washout. Headed down there with my buddy Jim. Still green there. Oh yeah, Hell's Run goes through Hell's Hollow in the park.

Aucune connotation avec la vie professionnelle ici, juste que ce passage me fait systématiquement penser à ce quartier de NYC, que je connais fort peu au demeurant.
This church has been down too long in the midnight sea so I took an accurate photo of what it looks like with my iPhone.

Víti (what means "Hell" in English) is a unique crater in Askja in the central highlands of Iceland.
This stinky crater, what erupted a powerful eruption in 1875 is now filled with warm sulphur stinking water, that is possible to bath in. (And we did it in this tour, what was a great adventure for my eleven years old daughters.)
The crater is about 250 m. wide and 50 m deep and is about 1050 m over sea level.
This is surely one of those places that's hard to describe in words, you just have to see it.
In the seventies, the surrounding in Askja area was used to exercise the astronauts for the moon tours. The landscape there is the most similar to the moon, found on planet earth.
On the rim of the crater we can see two persons and that gives the feeling for the huge scales there. Take a look at it in full size, then you can see the persons.

If the church is a way to heaven...then the commuter train station 90 ft below the street is the way to hell.
The latter for several reasons.
They say there are places on this planet which have seen such tragedy and sorrow that they are forever cursed. It’s as if the earth itself holds some dark supernatural force beyond our understanding.

Seen and appreciatet at the Heller Foundation and Garden - Gardone Riviera (Lake Garda - Italy)
Within 10,000 square meters there are botanical species from all over the world, from Alps to Himalaya, from Mato Grosso to New Zeland, from Japan to Australia, from Canada to Africa.
Several groups of plants are joined together by a criss crossing of paths accompanied by rest areas.
The central part of the garden re-creates an Alpine valley with pines, northern trees, cliff, gorges, crevasses, where the water springs fall from the red dolomitic peaks in the background; a 13 meters tall rocky landscape, a bonsai simulation of the dolomitic landscape that made the garden famous already during the times of Hruska.
All around are grouped ponds covered by water lilies and lotus flowers, inhabited by gigant Koi carps, and trouts and the reflection of flying butterflies and dragonflies, creeks and Zen water plays that invite to meditation, falls that flow from the rocks and water gushes from bronze heads, the gurgling and rumbling of water allow forgetting the heat and noise of the outer world, carry freshness and calm. In the dry mediterranean climate, water is a very precious good. Water bestows on the garden a peculiar atmosphere, creates living landscapes always new and animated, refreshes and enchants with mysterious reflexes and sounds.

Chiba Prefecture Mt.Nokogiri of is "hell peeping"
I look into the bottom from here, and do you not want to look?
Stormy dawn. Called this "hell", as the mozzies were fierce, very fierce. And when searching car for mozzie repellant (was in the car yesterday), well, it was not in the car. So sit in the car, mozzies "dat dat dat at" on outside of car, wait for the moment, rush outside to take couple of quick shots, get covered in belligerent mozzies, run back to car. Next time, "don't forget the Aerogard" :-)
There was nice banding in the sky. There was lightning to the left, but I was not hanging around with those mozzies to get lightning as well.

Hells Gate - Boston Bar - British Columbia - Canada
Hells Gate is an abrupt narrowing of British Columbia's Fraser River, located immediately downstream of Boston Bar in the southern Fraser Canyon. The towering rock walls of the Fraser River plunge toward each other forcing the waters through a passage only 35 metres (115 ft) wide. It is also the name of the rural locality at the same location.
For centuries the narrow passage has been a popular fishing ground for Aboriginal communities in the area. European settlers also began to congregate there in the summer months to fish. Eventually the Fraser Canyon became a route used by gold rush miners wishing to access the upper Fraser gold-bearing bars and the upper country beyond up the Fraser and the Thompson. In the 1880s the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) built a transcontinental railroad that passed along the bank at Hells Gate, and in 1911 the Canadian Northern Railway (CNR) began constructing a second track. In 1914 a large rockslide triggered by CNR construction fell into the river at Hells Gate, obstructing the passage of Pacific salmon needing to swim upstream to spawn. Salmon had difficulty passing through the now swifter water, and were appearing in increased numbers downstream below the Hells Gate passage and in tributary rivers and streams that they had not inhabited before. In the winter of 1914 debris removal began, and in 1915 the river was pronounced clear. However many biologists claim that the river was permanently altered and the salmon migration would forever remain disturbed by the slide.
